Delaney says no to expansion rumors.
"Not in the conversation."

My UC grad brother in law will be thrilled to hear that. He and his buds were worried that they would be left bcs-less after all of this shuffling.

I just wish the big east would fall over and die already so we can see more MEGA conference.

Louisville, Cincinnati, and BYU are the likely targets for the Big12 in 2015 when their Tier 1 tv rights expire.

Houston, SMU, and UCF to the Big East coming within a week. Not sure it saves the league though.

I wonder how UT fans are going to react to the couch burners at WVU? Scared and fascinated at the same time is my guess.

Big East officially extended football only invitations to Navy, Boise State, and Air Force and all sports invites to UCF, Houston, and SMU.

What a mess, must be wonderful that your school will make so much more money, of course, it will be a lot tougher on student athletes with so much added travel, the home fans probably cannot afford to go to away games and worse yet, the teams going to new conferences may have to wait years to get into a BCS Bowl game. Of course, it worked out well for Arkansas, Miami, and Boston College, they are all a lot richer for moving.
Imagine if the BCS decides to avoid the courts and keep the Big East as a automatic invite, gee, maybe we will see Navy or Army or Houston in a BCS Bowl game before we see Texas, Oklahoma, Texas A&M, Pittsburgh, Syracuse or West Virgina in one. Now won't that be a laugh. There is going to be tremendous pressure on the BCS to keep the Big East as an automatic invitee, through the courts where all the smaller schools will sue claiming the BCS is eliminating them from the competition for BCS Bowl spots. We haven't seen the last of this ongoing war.

It's a good start. Big East basically taking the cream of the crop from the non-AQ conferences. It would be a huge help if BYU decided to join in football only but I don't see the LDS brass doing that.
I do think that the Big East should get to 14 football schools to protect against further expansion from the Big 12. Louisville and Cincinnati seem like legit targets to go to the Big 12 in 2015 or before.
I'd add Memphis, Southern Miss, and Tulsa for all sports to form a "West" division with Air Force, Boise St., Houston, and SMU.
Big East divisions could be:
East
Cincinnati
Louisville
Navy
Rutgers
UCF
UConn
USF
West
Air Force
Boise St.
Houston
Memphis
SMU
Southern Miss
Tulsa

Big East and BYU are having discussions about joining the conference. I guess they'd have an East/West setup so this would be good for Boise and others out there.

You'd be losing the name recognition though. For basketball purposes that still means a lot.

I was actually trying to come up for names for both the new Big East and the MWC/C-USA alliance the other day and failed hard.
I think the United Conference would be good for the latter, but then people would shorten it to UCon and the Huskies wouldn't enjoy it.

Well, speaking of expansion, my Big 10 may well be looking for a team to replace Penn St. I cannot see how the Big 10 can keep Penn St. in its conference. What happened at Penn St. is just too despicable to justify their staying. It will be a smear against every other Big 10 school to be associated with the Penn St. program.
IMO, this isn't going to go away anytime soon and the Big 10 will be forced to take action or lose all credibility as a conference.

I don't think it is even close to being too far. This investigation is going to be ugly to say the least and Penn St. will be lucky to survive with a football program. The Big 10 will be tarred with this mess if it doesn't suspend Penn St. quickly, IMO. The lawsuits facing Penn St. could easily spread to the Big 10 if it doesn't take action, Penn St. alone will be facing millions upon millions of dollars in liabilities over this cover up and a lot of complainants will sue the Big 10 as well if they take no action.
This isn't going to go away and the Big 10 had better take action to distance itself from Penn St.

There's no way this will get rid of Penn States football program or get them out of the big ten. They'll clean house like they already have, and start over with a new young energetic head coach to try to bring th program back to life. Not saying they wont have down years, possibly for awhile, but they are not gonna take them out of the big ten or get rid of their program.
