Hey Everyone,

This build has our first iteration of the Legacy System! At its core the Legacy system is about allowing players to create a family tree of characters. Family is pretty important to the Star Wars universe, with the Skywalker family having one of the most interesting dynamics in movie history. This version is just the foundational components that we will use to build upon in the future. Here are the features of this iteration:

* Once your character has completed their Chapter 1 storyline, they will be able to choose a Legacy Last Name. This Legacy Last Name must be unique and is shared across all characters, on all servers - so choose carefully!
* Once you have unlocked your Legacy, any and all characters on that server will now contribute to that player's Legacy Experience Points. Much like normal experience points, when you reach certain Legacy thresholds, you will increase your Legacy Level.

We already have plans for how we will expand the functionality of the Legacy System in one of our major post-ship patches. This will include being able to shape your Legacy's family tree, and give you a reward for all those Legacy Levels.

We look forward to reading your feedback on the Legacy System!

As lame as it sounds, I love being able to choose a last name for my character. EverQuest had it, and I always wished WoW would implement something like it, but they never did. It's another way to get more immersed in your character and his or her backstory, so I am pretty pumped about this.

It doesn't sound lame... It sounds cool. I like the idea of bringing more life to your characters. It may never be anything revolutionary but is something that should immerse you in the world more.

That's pretty awesome, not gonna lie. Just bought Jurassic Park the Game and was gonna skip playing the beta anymore cause I dont want to spoil anymore of the game but I'm now tempted to go login and see that...

I wonder what stuff you'll get while leveling up the legacy system..

I do think that it's kind of dumb that EVERY CHARACTER on your account will have that last name.. why would a Sith Warrior and a Jedi Consular have the same last name? They should change it to every character on a specific faction.. but I'm still excited anyway.

I think it sounds pretty awesome. Really neat/unique idea that will add some fun to the game.

Will they have an option not to use the name though? Or change it? I would hate to make a last name and then end up not liking it haha.

Well now i have to think up a good surname... Cain is my fall back but having my first character named Raines Cain just sounds odd.

I know a lot of are going to play this game, there has been a ton of discussion in the PC Gaming thread, but I wanted to get a nice little thread going to centralize discussion.

I am so torn right now. The only other MMORPG I have played is LOTRO. I really want to get in on TOR but I want to KNOW that I will like it before I pop $60 on the game and another $180-200 on a year subscription.

If you had signed up for the beta before November 1st you'll get to play very soon. If you hadn't, there are multiple sites giving away beta codes.

It is very much worth the $60 and the fee each month. They have done an excellent job with this game.

I beg to differ my self .Pay to play are for Nerds . Just like when DC online was Pay to use. I never bought until it became free but when it was free I downloaded the full game ( free ) and it is fun as hell . But I am not no way dropping fees on a game monthly for it or what ever the price will be. Money could go else where.

Pay to play is not for nerds and DC Online is a horrible game.

Okay. So I got a beta code. I signed up for an account on SW:TOR online and redeemed the code. The code redemption was successful. Now what? Do I have something I can start DLing? Or do I have to wait for another email?
