Boyd could very well be there, but not Watkins.

Not to say any of these guys don't deserve it. I don't doubt that Luck will prove he should be #1 of the Heisman contenders at the end of year.
|
What about the awesome defensive players out there? The linemen? Some of these guys are year in and year out the best players in the nation, yet they aren't even given a snif. Suh was the best player by far two years ago and barely got third.
The Heisman has been about the best offensive skill player on one of the top teams for decades.
It's simply not a best player award so I can't see why it would bother you that one of the best players on a mediocre team is getting overlooked.
The Heisman is a joke.

As I said in the post you quoted, some people will be overlooked because of their position. Defensive players and linemen fall into that category.
Where did I ever say it bothered me? I said it was a shame. Its one of the most prestigious college football awards that is suppose to be an individual award but it isn't. You called it a joke and that's pretty much my sentiments.

Keenum's epic performance last night should boost his heisman stock. They have a pretty good shot at going undefeated as well. 9 tds in a game is ridiculous.

So he can finish a respectable 4th or 5th? Sure, why not.

I'd put him over Ball, RG3 and Mathieu (just because I know he won't get any heisman appreciation although he should)

There's no way in hell Mathieu should get Heisman consideration. There are so many more deserving players.

Luck/RGIII/Barkley/Richardson/Ball.
Keenum and Moore sit at home.
It's tough because lately we haven't had this many guys who've put up Heisman worthy seasons in the same year.
I could make legitimate arguments for my top 5 guys to win the award.

RG111 and Ball should battle it out. Richardson did nothing against LSU in his biggest game of the year and Luck had only a so so game against Oregon.

My ballot would be:
1. RGIII
2. Ball
3. Richardson
4. Luck
5. Mathieu

I really don't know who should win the Heisman. How can I objectively compare Trent Richardson to Andrew Luck to Robert Griffin to Tyran Mathieu to whoever else? I might vote on Mathieu because he's the best player on the best team.

*Most impactful.
Morris Claiborne is definitely their best player.

I want to make the argument for Luck at some point soon because he is doing so much stuff that doesn't show up in the stats. His checks and presnap reads are a huge contributing factor for the outstanding running game. Put him in one of those spread systems like Weeden and his stats would blow up like crazy.
Is there any argument for Richardson over Ball now?
