jaydeebee21 hopes to escalate quickly but not get out of hand.
Default Jack Crawford DE Penn State

what are peoples opinions on him and is he likely to be drafted.

as a British NFL fan just taking an interest in whether a fellow Brit has a decent chance of being drafted.

And i know its early but any opinion on another Brit Tom Wort at Oklahoma.

At the moment whenever its brought up (normally in build up to the international series game each year) its promotes British players as Osi Umenyiora, Rhys Lloyd and Lawrence Tynes.

Crawford and Wort would be the first British players that aren't kickers who mainly grew up in Britain left at 16 and 14 respectively. Osi left Britain at 5. Tynes at 11 and Lloyd at 16 i think.

He'll probably put up some nice combine numbers, and looks the part of a DE, but his game is very raw.

Welcome to the forums man.

Crawford has a lot of athletic potential that he just hasn't converted into a whole lot of on the field production for one reason or another. A lot of people expected a breakout season a from him a few years ago in his Junior year, but it just never came. He hasn't been able to play a whole lot either, between other guys doing a better job and nagging type injuries he's dealt with throughout his career. He's still got my interest as a late round lottery ticket though, as he's got an interesting combination of length and burst.

He received an invite to the Senior Bowl this year, which was a bit unexpected(from me at least), but he has a chance to really help himself a lot if he's able to stand out down there...and he has the natural ability to do so. He finished the season strong after a slow start, with four sacks in the last four games he played, so maybe that's something for him to build on going into the draft process. He should test very well at the combine too, which always helps.

Crawford is a very good run defender already but still offers little to nothing in terms of a pass rush. He's very athletic and will test extremely well which will make people wonder why he doesn't have the sack numbers but he's just never developed any sort of pass rushing repertoire while in State College and I'm not sure why because Larry Johnson is one of the best DL coaches in college football. Crawford should hear his name mid day 3 and he'll be a good rotational DE with the potential to be a good starter if he ever develops any sort of pass rush.

I can see him running an impressive 40 time. And he has great size.

But, as ATL has already mentioned it, his game is still raw.

He's kind of slow off the line and doesn't have many pass-rushing moves.

I'm interested to see if he can stand up and play some linebacker. He's a bit on the large side of it right now at 273, but he weighed 260 something not so long ago. Might be a way to get him into more situations where he can use his speed, especially if he can set the edge well.

I saw him a lot during his college career. I go to 3-4 PSU games per year. He is terrible setting the edge. He can learn how. But, didn't at PSU. Doesn't have that nasty demeanor it takes to play DE in the NFL in my opinion. Nice kid. Wish him luck. But, really doubt if he has that fire in the belly it takes to make it in the NFL.

He's also a guy who was injury prone, then really struggled to get back to form after the injuries as well.
