Bruce Irvin, OLB, WVU
Just wanted to get everyones thoughts on this guy? Looks like he could be a good one. If he adds some size without losing speed he could be a good one, when a good coach gets a hold of him. One trick pony right now.

Disagree...One trick pony, my ass. The guy can flat out play. He just needs better LB coaching. If this kid ended up on the Steelers, Ravens, 49ers, or Texans...He could be molded into a serious weapon. His intangibles are there. Just needs motivation and proper coaching at the next level.

My fault, that was just an assumption lol. Just looks small and fast as ****. Didn't think he had a repetoire. Haven't really watched him play.

No worries. He's a 34 front OLB, period. He's not gonna blow up a 4-3 line. But he does have the physical ability to impress at the next level. I'm thinking he's at least 69 on his KEI at the combine.

69 would be pretty sick. Mathews recorded a 68 and Ware would have recorded a 74 if I'm not mistaken. Pretty good company.

struggles with the run, he is no Von Miller, but more of a Applewhite, pass rush downs only

Too many deficiencies for me. He could be coached up and be a great pass rusher, it is possible, but I see more Aaron Maybin than DeMarcus Ware. There may be room to add bulk, but it could mess him up. A nice first step, but he doesn't play with great leverage. More athletic offensive linemen could really stonewall him, it scares me.

That's where I'm at on him as well. Very interested to see him in 1-1's in the Senior Bowl though.

Shane and I talked about Irvin on the podcast last week.
I said he is a guy who could really move up draft boards in the coming months for a couple of different reasons. First, there aren't too many dynamic pass rushers in this class and Irvin has the tools to be an absolute terror off the edge. Secondly, Irvin's stock has taken a hit because he's been playing out of position and was seriously misused as a senior. It's going to be very interesting to see what the guy can do once he gets in a setting that allows his talent to shine through, such as the Senior Bowl. Either way Irvin is a solid Top 100 pick right now but I wouldn't be shocked if he ended up in the 15-32 range of round one when all is said and done.

Irvin shows a lot more flexibility and savy as a pass rusher than Maybin did.

So what you're saying is that some stupid GM will reach for him in the upper first round?
Aaron Maybin, the sequel.

Irvin looks more like Jason Worilds to me. I think he'll be a solid second round pick.

He seems to be being very undervalued. Great explosion and great flexibility off the edge. One thing that gets overlooked with him is he plays with excellent leverage so he is able to compensate for his lack of size. He's been so misused play end in a 30 front which has affected his stats but he has a skill set as an edge rusher that other player in this class possess.

Yes, yes, yes. Also love how he redirects and cuts back into the QB. Doesn't just run around people. Think he'd make a nice pick for the Jets.

That is one thing I noticed when watching highlights, too. He doesn't just use speed to run around blockers. He'll use the threat of his speed to get the tackle moving backwards then stop and redirect to get at the QB.
If he can come in over 240 and have the combine number that I expect will impress his stock will skyrocket.
