Backup QB's that became starters elsewhere
With the talk of Matt Flynn being a hot commodity for some team needing a QB, I started thinking about prior backup quarterbacks in the NFL with little starting experience that went on to become studs for another team.
How many backup QB's like Flynn went on to become top QB's for other teams? However, I can think of many that went on to bust with their new team.
I can think of Matt Schaub, Matt Hasselbeck, Mark Brunell, Jeff Hostetler, Jake Delhomme, etc... but who else?
Kurt Warner became a backup in New York after the Giants drafted Eli prior to going to the Cardinals, but does that really count? He was a pro-bowler in St. Louis.
Who all can we come up with?

Well, he was cut by the Packers, and was Trent Green's backup in St. Louis.

Totally forgot about Warner being Green's backup in St. Louis. Reckon he does count then.

Chris Chandler was a backup at several points during his career prior to being traded from the Titans to the Falcons. Made back-to-back pro bowls in Atlanta, including a 14-2 season and leading them to the superbowl.
I think he'd be a candidate.

favre was technically the backup qb in atlanta when he was traded to GB. Also Doug Floutie was a backup I think twice before he was a starter.

He has only been on one NFL team in his career. Doesn't count.

Green Bay's history of back up QB's has been pretty rediculous

All of those guys except Schaub were brought into Green Bay by Ron Wolf.
That's ridiculous.

That's a good one. Even he fared better than Rob Johnson.
I wonder if Trent Green counts.

Bulger didn't become a starter elsewhere. Neither did Tom Brady.
