Guys a name that came up on Espn tonight for Indy's job was Marc Trestman. Why don't the Bucs look at this guy? He's done it all and won everywhere he went. Plus he knows offense. Seems to me to be a perfect coach for this team.

Not as a head coaching candidate. QB/OC coach/coordinator? Yes.

I wouldn't take someone from the CFL or whatever he's from and make him a head coach.

Zimmer is the perfect guy for this team. We don't need someone who know's offense to run this team, some one who can install discipline and respect, and that's Zimmer. we can get people who know offense to run the QB/OC roles.

You're not going to get everyone. This is what happens when you hold out and do a long coaching search. guys get impatient.

Plus, I don't think Spags was ever on Tampa's radar and I still think he ends up in Philly.

Plus, the DLINE coach from San Fran will not have his contract renewed unless he doesn't find a D-Coord. position.

Why not Trestman? The guy has only done

1889 as OC got the Browns to the AFC Championship game.
1995 first year with the 49ers led that O to 457 points scored number 1 that year.
QB coach for Det in 1997 Scott Mitchell passed for the second most yards in team history
1998 as OC of AZ Plummer threw for almost 4,000 yards and they made the Playoffs for the first time in 15 years.
2002 was OC of the raiders when thet led the league in total O.

And in the CFL was been to three Grey Cup games in a row winning two of them.

What more does a guy have to do?

If the Bucs say Free is the most important player on the team and Trestman should be on our list!

CFL. That's why. He needs to come over to the NFL as OC to prove he's worthy of a head coaching job.

And yes, I'd be all for him to come to the Bucs as a QBs coach or Offensive Coordinator.

I would rather Clements than Philbin to be honest. I'm hoping that if there are any candidates left in the playoffs that their teams lose so we can interview them and get this search over with.

If, by "great" you mean Steve Spurrier 2.0, then, yeah, I guess so...

If Dungy endorsed Kelly, it makes me a feel a little better. But I want to know how his staff fills out first.

This does have the Glazers written all over it. OUT OF THE BLUE>

Why is this such a bad proposition? The transition from college to NFL obviously isn't easy, but it's hard not to be excited about what he could bring to our team.

Kelly loves speed... I like that.

This also pretty much rules out us wasting our first pick on Richardson. He coached Blount in college and knows what he has with him... plus he knows he can wait til the 2nd or 3rd round to draft LaMichael James if he wants him.

The question I have is who will be the DC. Mark Aliotti has ZERO experience in the NFL (as does Kelly). I think with the emphasis on speed, and Kelly using the 4-3 in the past, that Ron Meeks is BY FAR the best candidate to be the DC.

He's a leader and an innovator, not much unlike Jim Harbaugh. I like it. Unlike Harbaugh, there is no Vic Fangio on his staff (with NFL experience) to coach his D.

This. I'm so much more excited about Chip Kelly than I would have been about just about any other coaching candidate.

People are bashing this because they haven't seen Oregon play football. Yeah the whole get the playoff in 12 seconds hurry up will be gone, but our up tempo offense should be run smoothly. Second, his system is a spread offense, but its a running spread offense more so than a passing O. Using a lot of misdirection, screens and fake screens with throws down field.

Also a lot of teams in the NFL are using collage plays so why not take one of the best in collage and bring him to the NFL. Plus us being in 3 and 4 WR's sets whats so different about the way NO's or Green bay or the Pats are in 3 to 4 WR's sets out of shotgun?

Our owners might be cheap, but they've hit home runs in two out of the three times they hired a head coach. They like to play it slow and see whats out there. The one time they had a knee jerk action they hired Morris who was clearly not ready to be a HC.

The more I read about Kelly the more excited I get about the hire. Oregon fans are either crying or cursing right now.

Haha. This. I'm glad we ACTUALLY agree on something Brasho. I don't want Richardson either.

I think this puts us in perfect position to draft Claiborne or Blackmon.

I'm excited to see him do something with our offense. Kelly's a creative offensive mind.

The only thing that I question is Kelly's lack of experiencei n the NFL. Could that be a downfall when trying to put together a quality coaching staff, especially on the defensive side of the ball. We can;'t go with a ton of inexperienced assistant coaches because that was part of the problem in Tampa. Too much inexperience on both the roster and the coaching staff.

Overall, I like the hire. And the Glazers really caught almost everyone off guard. No one had a clue he interviewed earlier in the week.

I'm just happy because this guy knows X's and O's. Morris as much as I liked the guy didn't know football that well.
