More hirings for O'Brien's staff. NOT happy about Roof coming in as DC, effectively making LJ Sr and Vandy go back to their DL and LBs coach. That being said, McWhorter is HUGE. Pumped to finally have a good OL coach, so sick of all our 4-5 star OL being horrible.

Stan Hixon is also a very solid hire.

Arizona and Rich Rod will be announcing today that they will hire current WVU D Coordinator Jeff Casteel to the same position. WVU will hire current Houston D Coordinator Brian Stewart to replace him.

The more I see Bill O'Brien the more thrilled I am the he is Penn State's next head coach. He is very smart man and I love what he brings to Penn State. His one hire that concerns me is Ted Roof. Roof has coached some bad defenses and some good ones. I trust O'Brien that he knows what he is doing on this one. I'm excited to see PSU's team next year.

Looking like Vols OL coach Harry Heistand is going to Notre Dame and UT is zeroing in on hiring Sal Sunseri for the defensive coordinator spot.

+1. in other news, they hired John Butler to be special teams coach. *gasp* we've never had one of those before.

So he's assembling Tim Brewster's old staff from Minnesota (Roof, Butler). That's.....nice....

I spoke too soon, Butler is going to be the DBs coach haha. But yea, i was just thinking that too, why is he hiring former Minnesota coaches but then I remembered they were defense guys and that Vandy and LJ Sr are still here so the first two levels will still be elite units haha

He was the recruiting coordinator when from 2005-2009 while at Florida. He's helped LSU gain access to a lot of recruits from Florida. So, basically, he's a good, not great, recruiter.
He should also bring a system similar to what Meyer's runs so it should be exciting to watch what he can implement while at Illinois.

Rutgers OC Frank Cignetti is being looked at by Auburn for the same position. I hope he doesn't jump to the higher profile job.

Sounds like it. We've got really good pieces for it. Especially after McCullers just committed.

Illini staff so far...with one more spot to be named...and according a few writers...it's coming soon. Willie Martinez is NOT in consideration for the spot:
Tim Beckman - Head Coach
Billy Gonzales - CO-OC / WR
Chris Beatty - CO-OC / QB
Luke Butkus - OL
Tim Salem - RB / Special teams
Alex Golesh - TE / Recruiting coordinator
TBD-DC
Mike Ward - LB
Keith Gilmore - DL
Steve Clinksdale - DB

Anyone have insight as to why all of these assistant coaches are jumping ship at Wisconsin?
NCAA trouble coming? They hate Bielema? Chryst was the reason that they were good and once he left the rest wanted out?
Just curious as there have been a ton of defections, and a lot for lateral moves.

Actually, only one lateral move and that was the guy that went to ASU (and he was from the west coast and spent all of his career prior to Wisconsin working on the west coast). Everyone else has left to a promotion. Our special teams coordinator left today but rumor has it he was pushed out which makes sense considering the performance of that unit this past year.

With Chip Kelly goin to the Bucs, let the talks of Chris Peterson to Oregon begin.
I have a feeling Oregon is going to be hit with sanctions and Chip is making a Pete Carroll like exit.
