Ok. Now I'm on board. Not a bad hire. Better than that tool bag Sherman.

Better than Sherman, no question. A trained monkey would probably be better than Sherman though.
The question with Schiano now becomes who he hires as OC.

The Big Ten and ACC teams have to be waiting in the weeds for some of those recruits, if they aren't calling them already.

Now we can put are arguing back and forth behind. Just saying I refute anyhting reported by La Canfora because he said it's almost a done deal several times Sherman to the Bucs.
Schiano has ties to the NFL and reportedly has spent every off-season with Bill Bellichik at mini camps and OTAs. Bellichik has given him a high reccomendation and went along to say he's meant for the NFL.
Only time will tell, however he's got a difficult challenge to put together a coaching staff. Doubt he can convince someone like Hue Jackson to run the offense.

Yep, Rutgers was bringing in a pretty promising recruiting class. If Schiano leaves that would all but erase that.

His game preparation and the way he handles his team is Bellichikian. His in-game management is like Dave Wannstedt.

I wouldn't hold out hope for Hue. I'm a little surprised he already doesn't have a job.
Plus, I could see it being a good or a bad thing, but I'm not sure if a first time NFL head coach wants to bring in an underling who was previously a head coach. Could lead to authority issues but it could be good to have someone experienced around.
I'd look for a QB guy personally. You need someone to get Freeman back on the right track.

Damn. I don't care all that much because the Bucs are garbage, but I really wanted to see Sherman there.

Who knows, Hue Jackson may see this as an opportunity to take the Tampa job, get Free back on tract, and back in the head coaching spot light with in a year or 2.

You just wanted 2 free wins each year for the next 3 seasons or so.
Schiano actually has a chance of making them competitive.

Eric Studesville ? They did work together in Chicago once upon a time. Or maybe Frank Cignetti ?
The question is legit though, whom he hires to be OC will be an important one.

Tressel would probably mean no bowl games for 2-3 years. That would scare off these recruits even more.
Better to promote from within and that way, you at least have a chance of keeping the recruits on that side of the ball.

That is the Glazers way of working. They never let there true intentions slip out. Sherman was the only guy announced as a final candidate meaning, he wasn't there top choice.

Schiano apparently also talked to the Rams earlier this offseason.
This is what I mean when I say NFL teams interviewing college head coaches always keep it under the radar.

Sounds like RAC will also be the Chiefs DC along with being HC. Not that it is a surprise or anything.

If there's a consolation for Rutgers fans, it's that Schiano has always been extremely overrated. It wasn't that long ago that there was talk about him being on the hot seat.
-.500 coaching record
-22-48 against winning teams
-1-23 against top 25 teams
-28-48 in the Big East
-No conference championships
I mean, really, this guy is only "better" than Mike Sherman because he hasn't failed in the NFL yet.
