If there's a consolation for Rutgers fans, it's that Schiano has always been extremely overrated. It wasn't that long ago that there was talk about him being on the hot seat.
-.500 coaching record
-22-48 against winning teams
-1-23 against top 25 teams
-28-48 in the Big East
-No conference championships
I mean, really, this guy is only "better" than Mike Sherman because he hasn't failed in the NFL yet.
There is a large Anti-Schiano Rutgers crowd but from where he brought us to where we are now is night and day. I really don't want to get in to it right now but we are a million times better off now than in 2000 and that's because of Schiano.
As for who they hire, that's a tough question because it's so late in the game. Under what I would consider realistic options at this point, I would think about Tom Bradley, Jeff Casteel, Chad Morris, and Bud Foster.

Rutgers was always a sleeping giant. They are the only major college program in New Jersey, which produces a large amount of BCS prospects. They never should have been as bad as they were, and should expect to be better than they are.

Schiano never really tapped into the sleeping giant.
I'm not so upset that he left, just moreso when. A week before signing day and before what seems to be our most promising year

He slowly was. This year the well would have been full. We were going to have pretty much every major NJ prospect and the future major guys also had RU #1 on their list.
He's great with a defense but he's a terrible in game coach. If this was a defensive coordinator position I'd say they got a steal but it's not. I don't think he lasts more than 3 years honestly. The NFL is just a different beast than college and what he did and preached at Rutgers is not something that will work in the NFL.
Why the hell isnt Zimmer a HC yet? Seems like we go through the same thing every year. He gets multiple HC interviews then he gets turned down. Is he really that big of an asshole?

I actually think he could be a better NFL coach. Especially if he calls the plays on defense. He might have to cut the Ra Ra BS, but X's and O's his defense will work in the NFL. And he'll have the ability to get the horses to run it.
The actual head coaching decision he makes are terrible. It's almost on the level of Edwards and Reid. He's terrible with the clock. His X's and O's defense will absolutely work, I'm sure of that. We'll see.

Ive met him.
He is, let's just say a very unique man to converse with.
He wont pull punches.
I've been thinking...since the Bucs talked to guys like Sherman and Childress for the HC job, could they still be under consideration for the OC position?

Heh, wouldn't that suck.
I'm thinking they learned their mistake during the Morris era and won't be forcing coordinators on Schiano ala Jim Bates/Jeff Jagodzinski.
I'm not liking the Emmitt Thomas rumors for DC in Oakland. Sure, he seems like he well-qualified, but he's the type of guy who could stagnate in Oakland while superbly-qualified Oakland assistants (assuming some are hired) get snatched up to be DCs elsewhere. I'd rather have a younger DC come in who can be here for the longhaul.
The Miami Herald reports former Texas A&M coach Mike Sherman and Bengals DBs coach Kevin Coyle will be hired as the Dolphins offensive and defensive coordinators respectively, "barring any unexpected last-minute issues."
Neither coach has a contract yet, but the interest is mutual between head coach Joe Philbin and both prospective assistants. Sherman first brought Philbin to the Packers back in 2003, and Coyle has been a mutual friend for years. Coyle is expected to switch to a 4-3 defense. Sherman is now out of the running for the Bucs coordinator job.
No more annoying rumor about Sherman being linked in Tampa.
The Chiefs are reportedly refusing to pay fired coach Todd Haley the remainder of his salary on the four-year, $12 million contract signed back in 2009.
In other words, the Chiefs are contending that Haley was fired for cause.
