Draft Party Ideas
Whats up guys, im currently a full time events intern for an NFL team. One of my projects is to organize a draft day party for the team..
I figured this would be a good group of people to get an opinion from, so I was wondering if you were attending a draft day party for your team what would you want to be there?
Thanks (+rep for an idea)

Food, beer, giant TV, some of the players for autographs, football related games throw the ball through the hole dunk tank. That is what I can come up with off the top of my head.

Go to foodnetwork.com and search NFL potato skins.
They have recipes for 32 different potato skins, 1 for every team in the NFL obviously. Each topping (or at least most) have some sort of tie to the city the team plays in. We always make them for the 2 teams playing in the Super Bowl. So you could go make them for your team for draft day.
And now that I read further and saw that you're and actual employee of a team, I dunno if you should be ripping off the recipes.

The cheerleaders should definitely be there. Unless of course the team doesn't have cheerleaders. But based on your location of Massachusetts, it would appear you might work for the Patriots, who do have cheerleaders. The mascot should also be there as well as some recent draft picks.
Food and beer are always good. Wings, pizza, and maybe some local cuisine. Big screen TVs for the adults and maybe some football games for the younger kids. Lastly, you could have some local sports radio personalities (if there are any good ones) who can come in a talk about the draft, the prospects, and take questions from the crowd.

Food is essential especially an event this large. Get some local catering as per the usual, and pull out all of the stops. Have something there that is original and everyone will buzz about, potato skins relative to the team you're working for seems good.
Entertainment. Games, and maybe a live band? Like I said, it's a long event and background noise is always key to keeping the atmosphere. A lot of TVs are obviously key. You might have one 'main' tv, obviously showcasing but people who are there that are actually interested should be able to socialize and keep up with what's happening. How many trades happen during the draft? TVs everywhere.
Beverage. Open bar? It's a party and if you're working with an NFL team then you're working with sponsors.
Utilize your sponsors, I'm sure upper management would be impressed with your forward thinking and how you're able to use your resources.
Have a schedule obviously. Flashy props, and a giveaway maybe? If your team is involved with any charities, a raffle for memorabilia towards a charity is a great PR move. Make that prior to the first pick so you encourage a good turnout when the commissioner comes to the podium to announce the first pick.
That's all I have without knowing your sponsors, team affiliation, and venue. Good luck.

Another cool thing would be a door prize. Each person guess who they think the team will select with their first round pick. If they chose right, they win that player's jersey. You could also do a raffle. You can pay $2-5 and at the end of the party, pull a name out of a hat and that person wins a pair of season tickets.

How big is the estimated size of this draft party? Any other key details like is it for fans or only employees? Are there going to be families?
Great food is a must. Mostly finger foods I would maybe recommend. Get it catered by someone who knows what they're doing.
See if any of the players/former players want to come bye to hang out.
Find out if there are going to be kids in attendance because you should have some activities for them play with.
Have a little draft contest kind of like how Shane does with the Super Bowl. Stuff like over/under how many QB's go in the first round, RB's in the first, # of trades, how many guys cry when selected, largest family on stage. Random stuff that make it fun to pay attention for some people. Nothing too player specific because not everyone knows all the prospects and that could alienate people. Maybe have some memorabilia/prizes for the winners.

Have a raffle/contest, where people can submit a mock draft (1st round only) and whoever gets the most right wins some cool prize.
