From everything I've seen and heard Hamilton is close to a lock. I said it in the recruiting thread but I'd be floored if he didn't choose Rutgers at this point. I think we'll be picking up Devin Fuller also and that should do it on the bigger name players unless a surprise comes out of nowhere the last week and a half.

I just said it in the other thread but I'm miserable right now. My day and possibly week is ruined and that's with the Giants in the SB. Schiano is all I know about Rutgers football having arrived there the first year he did. Look how he built up the program and the future looked amazing as we started to lock up the best players in the NorthEast. Now I don't know what happens. I can't believe Schiano did this. I feel almost every emotion right now.

If the Giants weren't in the Super Bowl this week I'd be having a meltdown right now.

I started following Rutgers when my sister went there when Ryan Hart was quarterbacking.
Schiano was in the process of turning the program around and while he did that, he turned the culture which was huge. There were finally expectations and optimism replaced continued dejection.
I wouldn't be shocked if a HARD push is made for Cristobal, but Greg Schiano was the archetype of turning around the culture of Rutgers football.

My first year at Rutgers was Schiano's first year as well. I've seen what he accomplshed but I'm so pissed he went out like this. Everything he's preached over the years meant nothing apparently. He's done an incredible job with the culture of Rutgers being more popular now than ever but he is also a douche for quitting at what could have been the next major level.

I started at Rutgers in 2001. I believe it was either Schiano's first or 2nd year.

2001 was his first. It's when I started also. Finishing on time on the other hand was a clusterfuck of events haha.

I'm so sorry for your loss guys. When I saw he was going to the Bucs I immediately thought of how devastated you guys must be. Sorry, I know you guys were poised for a pretty big year and like one of you said before, loosing a coach this close to signing day must hurt.

Cristobal has accepted and they are working out a contract. We better keep the whole staff(Cignetti, Flood, Fleck, Angelicho, Hafley) especially.

I like the hire. As long as the team wins, the NJ kids should want to stay home. Add that to the fact that Cristobal knows his way around Southern Florida, the recruiting may get better in the future.

Flood was the best choice considering the tight time frame the team had to deal with because of the national signing day. He is a young guy that can grow into the position and already has a rapport with the players already on the team. Hopefully the rest of the staff remains intact and Schiano doesn't recruit any of the position coaches to Tampa. It will be interesting what players stay loyal to their commits and which ones bail.
