Wednesday Night Football
Quote:
The 2012 season-opening NFL Kickoff game will be played on Wednesday, September 5 (NBC, 8:30 PM ET), Commissioner Roger Goodell announced Tuesday.
The game will be played on Wednesday to avoid a conflict with President Barack Obama’s Thursday night speech at the Democratic National Convention.
The Super Bowl XLVI-champion New York Giants will host the regular-season opener at MetLife Stadium. NBC will televise the game at 8:30 p.m. ET, with "NFL Kickoff 2012" beginning at 7:30 p.m. ET

Giants home opponents for 2012: Dallas Cowboys, Philadelphia Eagles, Washington Redskins, New Orleans Saints, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Cleveland Browns, Pittsburgh Steelers and Green Bay Packers.
5 good games to chose from, but I'd be surprised if it wasn't the Packers.

Packers, Saints, or Cowboys would be the best bet. Packers and Saints because preimere teams, and Cowboys because NFC East.

I agree with the Pack and Cowboys. If not them, then Philly or the 49ers for a rematch of the NFCCG.

Ah, didn't see that. Sorry. I was just thinking of the teams we have on our schedule and didn't think the home and away games had been announced yet.

All good. But past 2 SB teams would make good ratings, and Cowboys because its the Cowboys, a lot of fans.

The way I see it there's at least an 80% chance it's the Packers.
-Three years ago they put the Super Bowl winner against the team with the best regular season record.
-Two years ago they put the Super Bowl winner against a team they knocked out of the playoffs.
-Last year they put the Super Bowl winner against the previous Super Bowl winner
The Packers fit all three of those. 80% Packers, 8% Saints, 6% Cowboys, 5% Eagles, 1% Steelers

Browns have been known to beat defending super bowl champs (3 years straight until last year when we didn't face the Packers.)

I didn't know that. However, I do remember you guys beating us down on national tv. You guys busted out everything from that UFO offense, and doing stuff on defense that was unique. I remember that game pretty well. However, I would take my chances, and if you guys do win, then tip your hat and move on to game two.

It has to be the Packers! I couldn't think of a better opening season game.
The rivalry because of the post season game and the last two superbowl winning teams.
This is opening game heaven!

I would expectitto be the Packers, but I'd love to see the Steelers go up there and get Ben vs Eli to start the season. I'd definitely make the trip to NYC for that.

I actually think Steelers/Giants would be the best game from an entertainment perspective. Eli vs Ben, 2 SBs vs 2 SBs, same draft class, it has more dynamics to it.
Eli has outplayed Ben so far in their head to heads, but I feel like Ben is due.
