This is why Dontari Poe is criminally overrated.

Well, thompson, Poe or brokers aren't in the top ten because they are d tackles. The fact that Wolfe And roy have te production they do tells of thier work ethic.

Poe is a 0 tech and those almost never have stats.

Brockers is a 43 NT (at LSU) where the DL talent was insane. He was constantly doubled.

if we look at career numbers instead of just 2011, Vinny Curry has the most sacks in the class by far.

He might have had the most sacks...but only 2.5 more than Coples or three more than Bequette..that isn't a very big difference...he played in a weaker conference than both those guys too.

Depending on scheme, I'd take Curry over those 2 if the team needed a outside pass rusher. Coples motor scares me and I'm starting to doubt he goes in the top 10 unless its to the Jaguars.

So how come you only look at 2011 stats? Just wondering, since if we were to determine a top prospect based on production it should include their entire production stats, not just their most recent year.

I would think a guy that has back to back years averaging 100 tackles, 10 sacks, 5 ff (just throwing out made up numbers) would be considered more productive than a guy that had one year put up similar numbers.

The one game I've seen of him basically went like this: "screen, screen, double team, screen, screen, 3 step drop, double team."

Granted, it's one game, but that's not an ideal situation for a NT to flash.

Well, I took into account Previous Years. All the LB and the DL so far have had a senior year consistant with their Junior year.

If their Junior year was WAAAY better I left a note. Or if the Had a Rediculous JR year and a SR I left a note.

Adrian Hamilton holds the SWAC sack record with 20.5. Robert Mathis held the record before him.

JPP had what, 6 sacks when he came out?

Production at the college level doesn't mean much. It's more important to be an athlete on the dline.

A lot of people have compared Poe to a poor man's Ngata. No one questioned Ngata's production (9 TFL, 3 sacks, 1 FF, 1 QB Hurry) but everyone is saying that Poe's production is so awful (8 TFL, 1 sack, 1 FF, 5 QB Hurries).

I get that, but when I'm looking at a dline prospect, I'm looking at his measurables first. If you don't have the explosion, strength, speed, and power to be an NFL DE, you're not going to be a good DE no matter how great your technique and motor is.

You look at guys who were productive in college but lacked the elite measurables needed in the NFL, like a Derrick Morgan, a Larry English, a Paul Kruger, etc, those guys wind up being average to below average players in the NFL.

It was. It's the only reason why he fell as far as he did in the draft. In fact a lot of people said that he was a good fit in Baltimore bc Ray wouldn't allow his motor to run hot and cold.
