I know exactly how Mike Wallace fits into that offense.

How would we feel about getting Micheal Bush in free agency? I don't think hell be cheap but at the same time I don't think he will warrant a big pay day due to being a backup. I feel like he could help out the running game considerably.

I'll pass. Patriots drafted two RBs last year. Now is the time to use them.

The only thing that helps out a young team are good veterans in other positions.
NE needs to look for a veteran guard or center.

Waters may retire; Connolly and Wendell are nothing special.

I'm hearing from more and more people that the Pats are one of the top 3 teams that will be in for Mario Williams.
I want to sign him, resign Anderson and draft Fletcher Cox. To hell with 2 gapping, to hell with the 34 etc, etc
Adding a guy like Williams makes this defense potentially scary if they add a good safety as well.

Where have you heard that? I'd love for that to happen, but I have to see it to believe it.

One of the writers on NEPD retweeted it. Peter King also had a bit on it in MMQB. It seems to be gaining a bit of steam even as pure specualtion at the minute. Other teams mentioned were Dallas and Seattle.

Don't even give me hope for Mario Williams. Let me be insanely happy when it goes down, I don't want to get my hopes up and be disappointed. Again.

As expected, we put the tag on Welker.
list of tags used on which players list
http://espn.go.com/blog/boston/new-england-patriots
Also if we reach a deal with Welker before he signs the tender would we still have to pay him the tag money as well as the new contract?

I don't think so Jvig. The amount he was getting in the franchise tag might serve him as a leverage in the negotiations with the team though

I would love it although I think Cox will be gone :(
The Pats have gone through years where they do make a big splurge in the offseason.
However if they stay low key one guy I am interested in is Red Bryant. He meets BB's size requirements and is a big upgrade over Ron Brace, Brandon Deaderick etc
Plus you know BB has gotta be intrigued by the special teams value he brings. The guy blocked 4 kicks last year.

He seems ideal for us but I do think he'll be expensive as well.
Could be worth it if we can get some OLB pass rushers in the draft.
I'm sure his ST skills have caught BB's attention too.
I think he's more of a reality than Mario is at this point.

After cuts/restructurings we should have about $30 mil. And since we had $6 mil. we didn't use we could have up to $36 mil.

I really wish we would at least take a look at Carr/Finnegan see how much they want.

Once they get a new deal finalized it will over ride the cap number for the franchise tag.
