Could they? Sure, but Freeman was looking like a star a year ago, so do you really move on from a guy like that off of one poor season where the team imploded around him? I guess if they could spin Freeman off for multiple picks, including another first this year, perhaps they'd do it, but I doubt it. Might as well and see if Schiano can rebuild Freeman. If they get a better RB, and another starting WR, Freeman could take a big leap.
In Gabbert's case, and I actually still like Gabbert a bit, I just don't see GM Gene Smith from moving on. This was his signature move, and to not give it more time would be an indictment of said move. Not many GM's have the guts to do that one year after a big move like that.
