Moss contract:

Randy Moss' one-year deal is reportedly worth $2.5 million, with another $1.5 million possible through incentives.
|
Less than what Plax got from the Jets last season.
49ers show interest in NT Paul Soliai
http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com...d-be-a-factor/
That would be a way to beef up the line.

This is a bit of a stunner:

RT @JosinaAnderson Source: Former Broncos CB Perrish Cox has signed a 2-year deal with the 49ers.
|
He was just acquitted on charges of sexual assault a few weeks ago. Curious to see what the terms of the deal are. Talented guy but remember him having a few issues back in college.

Alex Smith still hasn't signed. Does he seriously want to test the market? Because that would be pretty dumb on his part in my opinion.

I wouldn't be surprised if they try to draw Seattle into the bidding. It was reported that Seattle was planning to try and sign Smith last season. Division rival would give them best shot at 49ers increasing their offer. I will say I am surprised that Condon hasn't gotten the Smith deal done.
Barrows tweeted about 30 min. ago he expects Smith to sign right at the start of FA.

I'd be surprised if the 49ers budged. I'm sure they like Smith, but Baalke and company have to know that he isn't replaceable. Is Smith really going to let Tom Condon ruin his career?

You guys just signed Perrish Cox.
He will be great someday, but he's a scumbag.

Just read a column in HuffPost about his case and it made my stomach turn a bit.

I'm surprised Cox was signed. I remember a 49ers player, Delaine Walker I think, saying something along the lines of Harbaugh's only rule for the players is never put your hands on a woman.

I think that it was Whitner who said something like that in regards to Harbaugh meaning that any problem except what Cox did is something you can go and talk with Harbaugh about.
And UGH, what a ****** way to start FA. UGH.

judging from his scouting report, he seems like a good fit.

As for Smith, if he actually hits FA, you would have to assume that his agent has a better offer from SEA or some other team because if he doesnt, whats the point? 49ers shouldnt give in to him whatsoever and does Orton have better arm strength than Smith? If so, there you go.

Yeah Cox is a bit of a suprise because of the character issues. But they probably wanted to bring him in, kick the tires, see if there's anything worth devloping. Might be a little added insurance in case Rogers leaves. He'll have a uphill climb making the 53 though. Pretty sure Donatell had some influence on this move, being he coached him in Denver.

Still dont like the move even if it is for the league minimum. Harbaugh is supposed to be a character guy. Signing Moss and now Cox shows that could be bullcrap.
Dont know about the rest of you but to no one's surprise including my own, im NOT a happy camper right now.

Well Harbaugh can't just operate on rumors. These guys may have had some situational problems, but at the same time he is meeting these people for the first time. Same with Baalke. Cox is still going to have to earn his spot in camp. Remember when we signed Madieu Williams?

Free agency just opened and we signed 2 guys for little money. Its not that the whole period is over and we ended up with only Moss and Cox. Both have their flaws but the talent is there and if Harbaugh can reach them and make them believe in him and the team they could pretty well turn out good signings. Else you just cut them lose without much problem.

I really liked Perrish Cox going into that 2010 draft.

Cox lied to police about having sex with that woman who ended up pregnant with his kid. If he's willing to lie about something that serious, he'll be lieing all over the place. And I see why they signed him. To replace Ginn as the kick/punt returner.
Granted, FA hasnt officially started yet but it seems like the 49ers are just going after cheap replacements and hoping that they will work out.

FA started today, Dan. We have no idea of what they are going to do or not do.

I care. We were two botched punt returns away from being in the SB. We're retaining most of the key players from that team. We added a field stretcher. We're still 20+ mill under the salary cap. Still some good FA's on the market. We're getting a new stadium. All of our draft picks. Sky is the mother******* limit for us.
One bad egg CB signing ruins all of this? We should all be the happiest people on the planet.
All in all, Harbaugh and Baalke know what they're doing. Just trust what they do because 1. They get paid to do it and 2. They're good at it.
