My guess is that the Bears balked at Vincent Jackson's asking price. Word is that the Bucs are the real leader.

1200 yards with two QBs worse than Cutler throwing to him.
I think we'll be jusssssssst fine, thank you.

I've never been a big Brandon Marshall fan, but for that price it's pretty hard to argue it was a steal for Chicago. Can't say I really understand where Miami is going with this one.

9 mil a year is a lot for Marshall, but Vincent Jackson will make more than that.
Also worth noting that the Bears have (had) two thirds this year, so they still have a full draft in 2012.

Totally agree. No room for diva receivers... Philbin came from GB where everyone shut up and did their job. He was not going to fit...

As we saw in Denver, the Cutler to Marshall connection can light it up. I think this is a great deal for Chicago *if* they can keep Marshall's head in the game and his personal problems off the front page.
As for Miami, I suspect this a new coach wanting to clean up the locker room culture.

He's also still one minor infraction away from a year-long suspension. That + his contract are why he's a risk for Chicago and why Miami couldn't get more in return. Also think its funny that some are suggesting this means Manning to Miami is less likely, all indications are that this HELPS the case of Manning to Miami.

He was on the market just two years ago and the Broncos got two 2nd round picks. This is a drop in value, but he's not any better than he was two years ago.

this trade was made to help their Chances of landing Peyton because the Phins are signing Wayne.

No way I'm buying that they did this just for Peyton Manning. Maybe Manning didn't want to play with him, but the Dolphins probably wanted to get rid of Marshall regardless. If they wanted to keep him if Manning said no then they would have waited for Manning to give them a full commitment first.
The high salary and bad attitude has to be the reason behind this.

I dont think its as bad deal as everyone makes it out to be for the dolphins. Marshall seems to be a problem off the field, drops alot of passes, makes big money. Also the phins will be able to bring in 2 quality players. The only thing i wonder is why they didnt get the other 3rd from this year?

Dolphins better have something good up there sleeves. If it opens the doors for Manning and a few of his teammates then I'm all for it. Be a failure otherwise.

Well I guess the good news for rival fans is that this completely squashes the Mario Williams rumors.
According to this, the Bears had $23.5 million in cap space. Brandon Marshall will make $9.3 million next year. That takes them down to $12.2 million, which is less than Williams alone will get in his first year. Plus they'll still have to sign draft picks and probably will pick up a few free agents. Unless they have some big money players they can cut, Mario Williams aint happening. I'd much rather add Brandon Marshall to the division than Mario.

They are moving Reggie to WR so his rating will go up to a 88. I do it on Madden all the time.

Will the Bears have needed a wide receiver for years. This was an offer they couldn't refuse.

Fairly happy with this move. Don't think there's that big a difference between Marshall and Vincent Jackson, and the cost was fine (particularly when you factor in that he's signed down for 3 more years at 27 mil and change). This gives them a bit more flexibility with their remaining dollars. I'm not expecting another big ticket item, but rather, several smaller additions, perhaps at TE, DE (never bought the Mario rumors, but wonder about a guy like Mincey), CB, and maybe OL if the price is right.
