Big move for the Bears. With Marshall, Bennett, Knox and Hester, Cutler will be scary good next year. Hope they can address the OL in FA.

Cutler & Marshall together are gonna make sweet sweet music on the field. At that price, it's a steal and a HUGE addition to their team. Yet for some reason all I can think about is how much better they would be with Greg Olson. So this is my question:
Why in the hell do GM's, or Head Coaches for that matter, let coordinators make personnel decisions that affect the team long term? Nobody wanted Olson gone except Martz, so who gives him the green light to trade him away for scraps?
I get it. Guys have a system, want to run it and run it with their type of guys, but it's pretty ridiculous you would let a coordinator come in that you knew wasn't here for the long haul, let make a big decision like that. Regardless of his offense, you would have a hard time explaining to me how it would hinder him having a guy as talented as him out there.
I just have never understood this, and I guess I never will. But great move for the Bears, this is 10x better then signing V Jax for whatever he'll cost. I wonder if they have enough left to land Mario Williams, that is going to elevate them to SB contender pretty easily if they can afford it.

For the Bears is a great trade. Get a #1 WR who is a big friendly former target for your QB. The Dolphins unload a expensive headcase and get a pair of 3rd rounders. Strong move to help the Bears offense, but I'm not going to act like Marshal has no drawbacks.

Olsen was a solid player but never played up to his potential. He lack of short area quickness hurt him and rendered him more of a deep threat. He also was a poor blocker. He wasnt multi dimensional. He was a solid player for us but to get a 3rd for him when he was also in the final year of his contract was good for us.

We could sign John Carlson tomorrow and the downgrade wouldn't be enough to warrant passing on a high third round pick + cap space. Which, btw, we used to get Marshall. As much as a I liked Olsen, he's replaceable.

I really liked Olsen, but people make far too big of a deal out of that trade. Olsen isn't the difference between being a contending team or not.

And a major headache at times(both on and off the field) but him teaming up with Cutler again will do him some good. Those guys are BFF for life.

Bears WR Brandon Marshall was involved in another incident that could lead to an NFL review. More shortly at http://ESPN.com.
|
Oh boy.....
Maybe it was a good thing we did trade Marshall regardless if it helps bring in Manning or not(doubt it though).

How can there be a bad character guy and he isn't being mocked/drafted/traded/signed to the Bengals!!!! Call Goodell cancel this trade immediately!!!!!!

Well if it's something serious there's probably a possibility it could void the trade

Im guessing the Bears did too.
Or else I suspect Goodell might not like the Phins withholding info like that

Yea, makes me wonder if both teams have an idea of how long a potential suspension might be. Guess the Bears weren't overly concerned.

From Jay Glazer's twitter
Statement from Brandon Marshalls Attorney Harvey Steinberg regarding Club incident:
"On March 12,2012 Brandon Marshall was the key note speaker at a charitable event in New York. After the event was over he, his wife and close friends attended a function at a local club.
While at the function a fight broke out NOT involving Mr. Marshall or his friends. While attempting to leave to avoid the melee Mrs. Marshall was struck in the face by a thrown bottle. She suffered serious injury.
While attempting to leave and take his wife to the hospital, the mayhem continued outside. Finally Mr. Marshall was able to take his wife to the hospital where she was treated for serious injuries.
Mr. Marshall is hoping to assist authorities in regards to this matter."
