If I'm choosing between Alex Smith and Carson Palmer, I take Palmer 100% of the time. You'd better have a damn good team if you expect to win with Smith. Palmer can actually add value to your team.

Palmer really did play well after the first 2 games, and I really don't see how a whole off season to get ready won't improve his play. At times this Raiders team quit on the field, but I never saw Palmer show any sign of quit. The defense was non existent most of the time, and our offense was still able to keep us in the game because of Palmer.

I think Palmer was a turnover machine last season though unless I'm mistaken. I know it was his first year with the team though so maybe that had something to do with it. On the other hand, I mean you need to protect the ball. Alex obviously wasn't a megastar last year, but at least he didn't screw things up time and time again and give the other team more opportunities. If Palmer cut down on the mistakes I think he'd be the clear favorite. We went 13-3 with Alex, I don't see us necessarily doing better or worse with Carson. It's really a shame that Carson's career has gown south. He was one of my favorite quarterbacks in the NFL and definitely the last time I was so sure a college player would be make a good quarterback in the NFL.
