That's a really nice deal for Flynn. I hope he is successful, I liked him at LSU and to see him develop in Green Bay was fun to see over the past few years.
Does Seattle run a similar defense to Green Bay?

Looks like Miami is going to the Tannehill route and will bring in a veteran until he is ready.

I'll take Matt Moore now and in the future over Tannehill or the 40 year old Weeden. **** that noise.

I didn't think it was possible, but it's looking like Miami might be the most incompetent organization in the NFL. How hard is it to attract guys like Jim Harbaugh or Peyton Manning or Matt Flynn? They play in ******* Miami.

actually not a bad deal for flynn. like it for both sides. not an awkward awful monster deal, but flynn still got a decent pay day. good for both sides.

I don't think so. I'd be very surprised if their offer is better than what the 49ers had on the table. Look what Flynn just signed for. That is almost the same deal that Alex had. Just a couple million off. And Flynn was higher on Miami's priority list. I'm guessing they draft Tannehill and have Matt Moore as the veteran presence until Tannehill is ready.

That's a reasonable contract by today's standards, but it makes no sense to me how Matt Flynn could get almost 10 million for one year, Kolb can make even more than that, but Jason Campbell and Kyle Orton could only get about 1/3 of that. Potential in most cases just means you haven't ****** up yet.

This also reconfirms just how foolish the notion that the Packers would franchise Matt Flynn was. Had they franchised him, he would have made about 5 million more with the tag than he got in guaranteed money in the entire length of this new contract. He, of course, would have then refused to sign a new deal that didn't give him more guaranteed money, and nobody would have traded for him, ******* the Packers in the long run.

Smart move by Ted Thompson, as always.

No, they clearly wouldn't have.

Here, I'll break it down.

Point #1- The best that Flynn could do on the open market was 10 million guaranteed. That was without having to offer any picks.

Point #2- The franchise tag for quarterbacks this year was 14.5 million, which is fully guaranteed.

Point #3- Nobody is going to give up a pick AND more guaranteed money to get the exact same player that could only get 10 million guaranteed.

Point #4- Flynn would be highly unlikely to accept a trade somewhere else for 50% less money, which is even assuming such an offer even existed. Why would he? He could pocket an extra 5 million dollars and hit the open market the next year.

He's got plenty chances to never make all of the steps he needs to, but he's got a lot of things going for him and doesn't have a blatant flaw that'll hold him back the way Gabbert did. At the low cost that top 10 picks have now a days teams are going to gamble on QBs that have potential exactly how NBA teams use top ten picks on completely skill-less 7 footers every year looking for that franchise Center.

In that environment Tannehill's a pretty good gamble for a raw guy, kinda like a not very poor man's Jay Cutler, he had a lot to overcome, but has a lot of tools to work with and kept his team competitive even if the results weren't as great as you'd like. I really think that just like Locker last year, if he lands someplace where they can be patient with him and give him good guidance, he is a very exciting young QB.

Tannehill is not even close to a 1st round QB. It's a complete joke how far these teams are willing to reach.

Big pickup: Bengals reached agreement with safety Reggie Nelson. Jets now will need to look elsewhere.

Thanks for wasting the Jets time and using the Jets for leverage Reggie.

Welcome aboard. Good move by the Seachickens with very little downside. As was mentioned he's an upgrade over what they have even if he isnt all world.

Both Brandon Lloyd and Reggie Nelson were smart. They both realized their success is hitched to their respective coordinator - Lloyd w/ McDaniels and Nelson with Zimmer. They both owe their career resurgences to those guys.
