I absolutely love the guy but at least 3 things will work against our picking him.
1) we have nobody to play LT and that position must be filled or our offense is going nowhere.
2) The NFL is now a pass happy league due to rule changes and MLB are drafted to stop the run, so as great as Kuechly is, he has become a secondary position on a football team and therefore not worth a top 10 pick.
3) if we were still a Cover 2 team, Kuechly might make some sense but we aren't.

Kuechly would play LOLB with Shepp in at MLB. Kuechly is would have the best chance of covering Gronk out of all our lb's/secondary.

Nothing to my knowledge.
And what do you guys think about Kuechly at 10? I really have no clue where to go. We know Buddy won't reach for a position of need if the top player at that position isn't at the top of his board. Reiff is a possibility IMO, as is Kuechly, Ingram (I SWEAR I remember hearing Buddy say he likes one DE at the top of the draft), Kirkpatrick?, etc. It just seems like a crapshoot

The Bills are pretty hard to predict since they signed Mario Williams. I do think Reiff could be a good possibility at 10. Keuchly would also make sense, he would be a monster and benefit greatly from that d-line in front of him. If Tannehill is there I could see a case for taking him as well.
They could also trade down and pick up a CB like Gilmore/Kirkpatrick later in the first.

I want Floyd, I think he's elite, and what we need opposite Stevie.
I think they will take Reiff or Kirkpatrick. I'm not sold on Reiff but who knows, and Nix was on the radio and stated that there will be a CB worth taking at #10 no matter what, so they have to have at least 2 CB's on their board in the top 10, Claiborne and i'd assume Kirkpatrick over Jenkins.
I don't hate Kuechly or anything, I just don't know where he plays? Barnett and Shep are starters, and I think Morrison's 2 year deal puts him at SLB.

I hope Morrison is riding the bench. All 3 of those guys are middle linebackers. I'd rather just see if Moats can play SLB, or just say **** it since there are no real OLB's on the roster and play a 4-2-5 with Bryan Scott playing some variation of SLB/Safety.

Mark Anderson is meeting with the Bills and having dinner with them at Tempo. Must be what the FO uses to seal the deal now

Granted he's played out of position as a 3-4 OLB for the past two years, but he's back in his old Chicago form and I would love this signing

10) Mark Anderson, New England Patriots
Age: 29
2011 Grade: +17.8
Key Stat: Achieved more QB pressures (57) in 2011 than in 2009-2010 combined (54).
Behind the numbers: Something of a surprise entrant to complete the list. Many fans, mostly Texans and Bears fans, would have been left head-scratching following the 2011 season, thinking “where did that come from?”. Indeed, it was with those teams that Anderson spent his 2010 and 2009, respectively. Primarily in sub packages and as a pass-rush specialist, he failed to impress or suggest his career would take off in any serious way, yet the magic of Bill Belichick appeared to bring out his very best. Still being deployed in much the same way, he showed an impressive and consistent ability to beat his man and disrupt the quarterback. So impressive, in fact, that even with his relatively low snap count at DE (444), he was the Patriots’ best pass-rushing threat and managed a disruption on an impressive 14.5% of pass rush snaps. His unexceptional history may deter some teams from taking a big interest, but his tremendous impact in 2011 means he deserves serious consideration for a similar or perhaps even greater role.

How is he vs. the run? Is he a liability, or average at it?

Well we way overpaid for Anderson. Could have got Wimbley for an extra 175K per yr. Ugh.

Yeah...and an extra year added to the contract.
Anyway. Anderson should be in rotation with Kelsay I presume. He was in a rotation with the Pats last year which allowed him to collect 10 sacks and harass opposing QBs consistently. If all stays true and he does this again then he will be worth every dollar of his contract. Furthermore our boys will have the most terrifying Dline in the AFC!

Isn't Kuechly ideally a MLB as well? A ton of Buffalo people want him, but do you think they'd move Shep? I think Barnett is a lock at WLB, so could Shep even handle SLB assuming he'd play over Morrison.
I'm almost rather have Adams than Reiff, something doesn't sit right with Reiff. We'll prob end up with Kirkpatrick either way, hah.

Just stopping in to say that the Anderson signing was really a good one for you guys. It will be interesting to see how it translates onto the field (ie. Eagles last year) but you guys have the most talented D-line in the league right now, no doubt. Luckily for us Jet fans your secondary and LB'ers are still pretty weak haha

Just need a Sam and some depth at lb, we have a great pair of S, aron Williams at cb so agree need another cb. And u have to think last yr they had 2 cover for 20 seconds now with Mario and Anderson that isn't gonna happen.

Is it crazy to think Poe might be a great fit for us in the first? I really want Curry in the 2nd even with the Mario signing, so I wouldn't want a DE in the first anyway. Mario talked about playing next to DT's who collapse the pocket so QB's can't step up. Imagine Poe next to Dareus? It's kinda scary to think about, and although I know he'd only be on a rotation, I think Kyle Williams is a bit over-hyped, and foot injuries scare me even if he says he's at 100% now. Just a idea, any thoughts?
|
I can see Floyd going to Jax at 7 as well. Poe would be interesting, but with Dareus and Williams I cant see it, although if Williams injury were a legit concern at this point I could see it as a possibility. I do think Williams is over hyped, he's a stud IMO.
With Nix's drafting history, do you think Floyd is a real possibility??

He's a pro-bowl G, capable of starting at RT, LT is a far stretch for me. Taking him at 10 to play LT is out of the question from me.

Kuechly is a fine player, but the question is, where does he play? and if running backs are a dying, arent ILB's as well? If Kuechly can cover TE's and RB's Ill take him to be our SAM, as for Morrison, IMO he's on a back up contract and is just a depth player.

I've got Mike Adams to the Bills at 10. I know Reiff is higher ranked but I think Adams is and will be the better player? Is offensive tackle the primary need position that the Bills are working with, or what are some of the other places Buffalo may go that surprises?
