Sucks to hear that about Mankins. Gallery's signing looks great now.

I have heard this rumor before but could only find one source, which was a CBSSports reporter (iirc) with nothing presented that made it sound like anything more than darts at the board.
I'd be happy w/that, though. Instant upgrade at CB1 and in the return game. Considering all the mocks that have us taking a CB at 27 or 31, I would see Webb as a huge value w/that 31 pick.

Obviously, FA isn't done (especially after a day like today) and the draft isn't over.
I've got a sneaky suspicion that Chad Ochocinco makes the roster if he's on the team after the draft.
|
That projection is only based on the current roster, so guys like Brace, Silvestro, etc. are candidates to be replaced with rookies or later free agents. Josh Chapman's been dropping due to a torn ACL; if he makes it to #95 overall that would be an incredible pick as a Brace replacement. Chapman has already anchored Saban's 3-4.

Do anyone else think that McDaniels would try to convince BB to quietly pursue Tebow?

I'm sure Mankins will be back well before the playoffs, at least I really hope so. The Gallery signing is awesome if you ask me, hopefully Mankins is ready to go but if not Gallery is a nice depth OL. Hopefully he doesn't turn out like some other failed reclamtion projects of past mega talents like Fat Al and Ocho. I am pretty sure Pioli and BB had hard ons for Gallery in his draft year.
I don't really understand the Stallworth signing. I loved it when we brought him in for the 07 season, and he made some plays then but was nothing spectacular. He still has ability I'm sure but I don't know if he'll make the team. If he could be the deep threat people know he has the ability to be then that would be a very nice pick up.
Add Gallery and (hopefully) a more bulked up Solder to our OL and that is a freaking monstrous unit.
Bringing in Daniel Fells as a #3 TE is nice but I would have liked more of a blocker, I guess we may not need it though because we probably will be running a ton of 3 tackle sets this year. Cannon will be on the field a lot.
As someone else said, all these depth additions make me think we will either make a trade for a player or move up in the draft.

I'm coming in peace, guys.
Mark Anderson is currently meeting with the Bills.
Can any of you tell me how he is in the 4-3, his strengths/weaknesses, etc?

He's a 3rd down pass rush specialist on a good day. On a bad day you might as well ask a CB to set the edge over him in the run game.

Kam Wimbley has said that the Patriots talked contract with him. That means that we're at least trying to fix the pass rush. Obviously BB didn't offer him 5 years $35 mil, but at least we're out there... I'm starting to think that we're going to draft Whitney Mercilus more and more..

The only ways NE would be trading for Tebow:
1) They want him to play FB
2) Josh McDaniels wants him as his QB and BB is retiring soon.

I'd say Stallworth is cut during preseason, if he makes it that far.
As for Gonzalez, I think he's done. Too many injuries one after another and he couldn't even manage to best Blair White on the depth chart? Unless that's strictly b/c he was such a crybaby about it, I'd say it's a pretty good indication of his post-multiple-injury ability.
I really like Fells. A few years ago when he was an FA I was hoping the Pats would bring him in. He's a solid player and is better than Alge was in his time hear. Obviously that's not a knock on Crumper, who was far better than Fells ever was if we compare their respective careers in their prime. But right now I think Fells can fill the role Crumpler had very well.

I would love for either Mercilus/Cox/Perry/Branch...some kind of athletic pass rusher out of round 1......All these guys I believe we would have to trade up. Cox, Mercilus and Perry can all be gone within the top 16 picks
Chandler Jones intrigues me, such long arms, reminds me of Tuck coming out

If we're staying in the 4-3 I want Jones as well. He has tremendous upside and a strong repertoire of pass rush moves already. I really like him. Great motor as well. I don't think he has the athleticism to play 3-4 OLB, but he has the potential to be a force at DE.

Don't just write him off as a 3-4, many people said the same about Aldon Smith after his combine, from what I heard...Jones looked good in position drills at his proday.

The Patriots have signed former Miami Dolphins CB Will Allen. He's 33 years old but Belichick spoke highly of him in the past. His coverage statistics from 2011:
36/59, 340 yards, 2 TD, 0 INT, 3 PD, 88.2 rating
FB Spencer Larsen and DT Trevor Laws were also brought in for a visit.

The bad news: Mark Anderson has agreed to a four-year deal with Buffalo. Unfortunately I think he priced himself out of New England. Hopefully he ends up being closer to Tully Banta-Cain than Robert Mathis.

Another good signing. I like Allen, aside from the age +/- injury concerns.

This was a loss, but I can imagine what he was asking for, he got a lot of garbage sacks, but what sux is the last few weeks and the playoffs he was real good....its going to hurt if we dont go pass rush again in the draft. aside form that he did suck against the run, so I can see a gameplan already in mind

$27.5 million over four years for Anderson with $8 million guaranteed. Certainly too rich for New England's blood. Hopefully Andre Carter is willing to re-sign for a reasonable price. Wallace Gilberry would be great as well; he could be the next Anderson. Both players are from Alabama, both had pass-rush success in the past but only one year of major production prior to entering free agency.

Thats a lot of money for him but most Bills fans are expecting him to be our starting RE now. If he doesn't work out in year 1 we can just cut him without suffering too much of a cap hit

BenJarvus Green-Ellis has reportedly agreed to sign with Cincinnati. Good luck to Green-Ellis in the future!

Aaron Schobel is considering a comeback. Could he be pursued for a one-year contract similar to what the Patriots gave Shaun Ellis and Andre Carter this year? Schobel hasn't played since 2009 but recorded 10 sacks that season for the Bills, including one against Matt Light in the season opener. That was the same game he returned an INT for a TD in. NFL.com has him listed at 6'4" but only 243 pounds, and he will be 35 years old at the start of the season.
