I did. He wasn't. Ok so he took a trash team to average. Coaches do that every year.
Btw I just ordered mine

Nice to see that the Saints were able to develop a fan who's homerism can challenge bucsfan12's.

I knew this was coming...Caught the attention of a Senator.
http://www.nfl.com/news/story/09000d...headline_stack
Quote:
"Let's be real basic about it here. If this activity were taking place off of a sporting field, away from a court, nobody would have a second thought (about whether it's wrong). 'You mean, someone paid you to go out and hurt someone?" ' Durbin said in a telephone interview before raising the issue on the floor of the Senate.
"It goes way beyond the rules of any sporting contest, at least team contest, to intentionally inflict harm on another person for a financial reward," [Illinois Senator Dick Durbin] said.
|
Also...
Quote:
|
One possibility, Durbin explained, would be to extend federal sports bribery laws to cover bounties, so that "if someone offers in a team sports situation some sort of value, money or otherwise, to intentionally hurt another player, that, in fact, would be a crime."
|
If we really want to get into it, these are already crimes: conspiracy and battery.
If the local DA wants to pursue charges, okay. If they don't, that's in line with past precedent, I believe. Either way, I don't see the need for Washington to get involved.

He started off a really raw project, but he turned out to be really coachable. The intangibles are off the charts.

You're stating it like it's a fact that he was a failure at Rutgers, while everyone knows what he did at Rutgers was an incredible success. Every year there is a team that was bad and has a good year, Schiano built a program at Rutgers. But I'm sure you're just trolling Buc fans so I'm not sure why I'm bothering.

It's definitely not a positive, but some teams are more well equipped to lose their playcaller than others. If your QB and OC have a large role in that already, and have been on board for a long long time, it's easier to deal with.
Spagnuolo will be running the defense, but we may not have any players left... =/

Is there any word on which players may be suspended? I'm guessing you can kiss Vilma's ass goodbye, but have any other names come up?

Spags needs to come back to the Giants.
Come home Spags. Come home. You dated the stripper, you had your fun, you learned your lesson. Now it's time to come home.

You better hope that Fewell doesn't revert back to his 3 man rush/soft zone coverage tendencies so that he gets hired as a head coach somewhere. Then you might at least be able to hire someone who will intentionally run a more aggressive scheme full time rather than just going to it 14 weeks into the season because nothing else is working.
He may think that with a full offseason now, he can finally implement the scheme he wants to run.

That's exactly what he's going to do. I know it's coming. Hopefully he'll get a HC gig anyway bc he's a SB winning DC now and that will allow a team to gamble on him.
For the record, Fewell wasn't aggressive in the playoffs at all. It was 4 man rushes all day. The only adjustment he made was he simplified the coverages and ran a lot more man coverages, which alone was enough to get our defense running at a high level again. We got to the qb with 4 guys bc our dline was playing at a high level and finally healthy.
Imagine what an aggressive man coverage DC could do with our talent? We'd have the best defense in the league.
Fewell is a good DC when he wants to be. The problem is he's stubborn with his coverages. I can definitely see him try to run his scheme and force it on the team again this year. In fact, I'll be surprised if he doesn't do that.

I think you still need a legitimately good MLB in there to take the next step as a defense. I'm not talking Greg Jones or Chase Blackburn. A lot of people think it's an overrated position and you don't invest that highly in it, but if you just had a well-rounded, intelligent player in there, it would do wonders.

I agree. It's the 1 missing piece to our defense to make it complete. We have a great deep secondary, good OLBs, probably the best dline in the league, all we're missing is a MIKE.
If we get a MIKE, we can run any scheme and be successful at it. But until we get that guy, we can't run Fewell's Tampa coverages with as much success as he'd like.

I still believe that the Giants need a bigger run defender in the middle of their d-line. A run committed team can control the game vs. the Giants.

Linval Joseph is that guy. He was a beast in the playoffs and really stepped his game up. You just don't hear about him often because we have so many other big name stars.
Also, I Fewell will still run a good amount of man. He was really upset with the loss of Thomas and that's why he was running as much zone as he was most of the season. With Thomas back and our success in the playoffs I'm not that worried.

I haven't heard any, but there supposedly 22 players involved, I'd have to think a few of the key contributors that are still here will be named (Harper, Jenkins, Greer, Smith, Ellis?)

“I can’t say for sure it was $15,000, but I definitely remember that happening before that Minnesota game,” the second player said. “And I can’t say for sure that those were G-Dub’s exact words about Brad Johnson, but that was certainly the message. I had never heard anything like that before from a coach, but I wasn’t shocked because that was G-Dub’s character, so in your face. His language was always X-rated and our meetings were usually pretty nuts.”

This could get really bad, for Williams.

I'm tired of hearing "multiple anonymous sources"; I want some damn names.
I'd really like to see this proof they speak of as well.

Not to be dismissive CJ, but do you really "need" proof that Williams might do something like this? The same guy that repeatedly sends all-out blitzes in the very first preseason game after a lockout???
