Given the way the offseason has gone for the Niners, I just don't think CB is a first round target anymore. It would be tough for me to see a pick there cracking the top 3 of Carlos Rogers, Tarrell Brown, and Chris Culliver, all of whom played very well last season. I'd tend to look either to an interior lineman like Pete Konz or maybe an offensive weapon like Coby Fleener there. In the second round, Brian Quick is a decent fit, but I think Harrison Smith would also make a great deal of sense as the Niners are pretty thin at safety and only have Dashon Goldson fro this year as the franchise player. In round 3, if it hasn't been addressed yet, I could see the team looking to RB to help share the load with Gore and Hunter.

Wilson is already 31 he'll likely play out his contract thru 2013 and retire, Scott is 31 and he's got two years on his contract too.

in addition, Illoka has the size to play with the TE's in that division. He's a better matchup than a linebacker on them. He'll basically be the backup to Bryan Scott who plays a hybrid SS/LB role. Essentially right now you've got 1FS and 3SS, now they could play FS but they are mostly SS. illoka is a FS despite what people want to believe due to his size

You can definitely make an arguement CB could be there too, but I had Illoka as the highest rated player on the board.

Thanks for your input. The reasoning behind the CB is simply I thought it was best player available. As you can see, I think Konz is most likely to be an early tow mid 2nd round pick, I'm also not as high on Fleener as some.

I also thought about Smith at safety, but felt it was a little early there. I also thought of RB in the 3rd, but went with the interior line help at that selection since I wasn't sure if they'd invest a top pick in a backup RB.

Vikings do not need a DE in round 3. We already have the problem of trying to get Everson Griffen more playing time with Allen/Robison as starters. Give us Harrison Smith there and it's a great Vikings draft.

Thanks, I try to find scheme versatile players for the Patriots. Upshaw can play DE or OLB, Crick can play DT/DE in a 4-3 or DE in a 3-4. Barron can play either S spot in either defense.

It would be tremendously surprising to see them add the red flags of Jenkins at CB when they just signed Perrish Cox.

They might add CB but I doubt it would involve such character risk.

Re Konz: so are you saying you think the Colts take him with the second pick in the 2nd round and he's not a reach there, but he would be a reach at the 30th pick in the first round? That doesn't make much sense to me. And while generally, I'm totally ok with the "value" justification-- I think it's the smart way to build a team. But I just really can't see the Niners spending that pick on a corner... especially where the talent value that Jenkins presents is somewhat offset by his off the field concerns. The kind of team that gambles on him in the late first is going to be one that needs more immediate help at CB, IMO. Indeed, at the start of the offseason when I thought Carlos Rogers probably wouldn't be re-signed, I was very excited at the possibility of drafting Jenkins. But then Rogers came back, AND the Niners added a guy like Jenkins who is very talented but has some off the field risk in Perrish Cox. I just don't see the need there, really at all.

As for Fleener... well, I guess we just agree to disagree.

Thanks for responding!

Trent Richardson is a fine pick, but the next two are questionable. Osemele is more of a guard than a tackle and the bucs have two pro-bowlers at guard. They would be much more wise to take a Jayrol Hosley or Josh Robinson. The corner back talent takes a huge drop off after the first two rounds. Never heard of Leonard Johnson anyways. The bucs should go OLB in the 3rd. Osemele really is not an upgarde over Trueblood.

I said a few things out loud that at the Browns mock that would not be appropriate at school.

1. Tannehill is a massive reach at 4, and I truly believe Cleveland is set to go with McCoy for another year before reaching on a huge project.

2. Much rather see Cleveland get Doug Martin at 2 than a LB.

3. I don't like Pead at all, and Cleveland needs OL help.

Chiefs

1) Poe - There worse picks I have seen: Martin, Brockers, Cox, Keuchly. DeCastro is the pick.

2) Hightower - Again, I have seen worse. This is where they take a NT.

3) Cousins - OK. This time I have not seen worse. Almost anything is better. If they Chiefs want a QB, they trade up, or back, for Weeden.

I am cool with this Jets draft. Get the best available pass rusher, A serviceable future back and a WR. Wish we get a safety somewhere but overall good job.

Looks good for the Titans. I could see them maybe taking OG's Washington or Kelemete before a CB. They have started both McCourty and Verner opposite Finnigan, I think they both start this year.

They seemed unconcerned to resign Cortland and they have talked about needing o-line (and I don't think 34 y.o. Hutchinson is enough of an answer).
