Michael Turner is soft as ****. I hate him (maybe hate is too strong a word). I just feel like he shuts down against good teams. He seems to pad his stats against teams like the Bucs and Panthers.

As someone who has had Turner in FF for a few years and follow his stats very closely, what BUlldogs just said is very accurate. He'll rush for over 100 yards and couple TDs against weak teams. Anytime the Falcons play a good team however you can expect him to get you like 40 yards, and maybe a TD if youre lucky. Although he did have a good year last year.

Either way why am I talking about this, Forte is just so much better at this point. The bears need to wise up and just give him what he is due for.

Turner is good at plowing straight ahead, and his decline in that regard has been slight.

Go back and read my first post on the matter. It's the fact he offers NOTHING, not a GOD DAMN THING as a receiver, outside runner or blocker is why every decision maker in the Bears FO would need to bathe in gasoline then light a match if they traded Forte for Turner.

If we trade Forte, it'd be for like a 2nd round pick or, if we're really really lucky, a late first.

Not an "up the middle back" in the downward slope of his career who provides nothing else.

So basically he's a ****** version of Adrian Peterson?

Oh yes. I went there. Peterson has become overrated. Best runner. But RB is so much more than just running the ball nowadays.

It's also why you're better off simply rotating mid round draft picks into a platoon instead of paying one guy.

Let's be honest, if you watched any Bears games you know that Forte's low TD total is about 5% his fault. It's not like he gets inside the 20 and just sucks, or doesn't break off the occassional long TD run. The Bears' offense has been an abortion.

Let's also leave out that total usage over the past two years:

Turner: 664 touches for 2964 total yards, 4.46 yards per touch in 32 games.

Forte: 543 touches for 3103 total yards, 5.72 yards per touch in 28 games.

Forte with less touches, more yards, in less games, while also adding more to an offensive game plan. It's not like Turner is absolute garbage, but let's not get carried away in comparing a less productive, one dimensional 30 year old RB probably on the decline of his career to a guy 4 years younger that adds more to your offense.

Quote:
Also, Turner is from Illinois, so he'd get a +1 speed bonus for playing for Da Bears.
This did make me lol pretty good though, so you do get points for that.

LoL. When you get the ball inside the 5 all the time and ur meant to be a bulldozer you better get a lot of TDs. Hes not making plays for himself to get these Tds like Forte does.. hes just doing the 1 thing hes good at. Running over people for a few yards to push it in.

Forte to me is one of the top 4 backs in the league. The guy does it all. The Bears should try to trade him, because I'm sorry to say it but most times it never works out for teams with second contracts for RB. It's like you're paying them for what they've done in the past.

If the Bears do pay him... Should give him big money in the first two years so if he ends up breaking down you can walk away from the back years of the deal.

Holy ****. Halsey got us hard. Look at how much time we've spent on a Madden trade proposal.

That's exactly the problem. The Bears have already offered him a deal that will pay him more than Jamaal Charles got, but Forte wants to be one of thee top paid guys at the position. Like DeAngelo Williams+ type money.

And I'd never, ever give that to a RB in the modern NFL. Not when you can find guys in the mid-round every single year who can step in and produce. It may not be to the exact same level, but paying a 3rd round pick $500k a year to produce 75-80% of what a Forte or Ray Rice or someone like that would do but cost 100x that much is preferable to me.

Hell I'd shop Forte for a late 1st, take the first 2nd rounder someone offers me, and be done. Thanks Matt but you're not worth $40 ******* million guaranteed. No RB is. Roll with Michael Bush and a draft pick.

I think the Bears are handling it fine. If I'm dropping coin, I'd do it on the Foster's and Rice's of the world (I think Forte is just a bit behind). Keep tagging him.

This is so true. It would be great to have Michael Turner and then substitute him with his twin--Michael Bush. Teams would hate to stack the box and not worry about the outside run.

The Falcons resign Todd McClure.

I can't believe he's been with the team since 1999. That's crazy...he has to be high on the list of longest tenured non-kickers.

I know Pat Mannelly is the only player from the 1998 draft still on their original team but I think Ray Lewis is the longest tenured non-kicker. He's been on the Ravens since 1996.

I mean, if this offseason isn't "We had the talent, it was the coaches" I don't know what is. Let's see how this confidence in what you've built pays off Mr. Dimitrofff. (I know, I know, 10-6, first round exit.)

At least with the Saints ******** themselves all up and down, that first round exit might at least take place at home.

That's ever so slightly better that a first round playoff exit on the road, right?

I actually wanted the Packers, but after the suspensions I figured it might be best for us to play the Saints early.

I feel like we are always playing divisional rivals from Dallas at Dallas to the redskins at our stadium.
