i believe i'd mentioned that my opinion almost entirely came from him in new england, and that i hadn't seen many eagles games since he'd moved. so it wouldn't surprise me to be wrong about him there. but coming off the patriots, i do not believe he was anything better than a deltha and will maintain that he was highly overrated based on his stat sheet.

though i'd be curious: if nnamdi really was that bad, how much of asante looking better was a result of teams targeting away from him? i know there've been seasons where champ looked dramatically better than he was actually playing because of the dog **** we were playing on the other side of the field. *shrug*

Yeah, I saw that, just wanted to bring that to people's attention, that he has done a better job of limiting the big plays he gives up.

As for your second part... I really don't think it factored in all that much. I don't have stats readily available, but I'd imagine his stats aren't too much different last year than from two years ago, before Nnamdi was brought in. It wasn't just Nnamdi coming in that made Asante play better, he has been playing at a very high level the past two seasons.

Bruce Campbell gets traded for Mike Goodson. I will fondly remember Bruce as the guy everyone mocked to the Raiders at 8 even though no one would touch him in the first 3 rounds.

You gotta watch that "everyone." It may have been a fun thing to joke about, but the number of people who seriously believed something like that could happen was extremely low.

It was pretty high for a while. At least until the process started knocking him down in the rankings.

I like this trade for Carolina. I'd rather take a shot at Campbell than a employ a fourth string RB.

Maybe at first. I seem to recall that by the time the draft actually came up, most people didn't think too much of him dropping like he did.

Love this trade, we get rid of a player who'll likely not see the field for a very serviceable RB in Goodson. Now we can use a draft pick on another need now, and man I'm likely the potential of DMC, Taiwan Jones and Mike Goodson running behind our oline.

I too enjoy the potential of Taiwan Jones and Mike Goodson. Not sure who that first guy is though...his name rings a bell from injury reports maybe.

Demetrius Bell visiting the eagles this weekend - would be a good 1-year signing with Peters done for the season. Fits Mudd's scheme pretty well.

The belief when we drafted Bell was that he was another very raw type that would eventually take over as our left tackle replacement for Peters, so this is fun to see. There was a bit (a lot) of overconfidence on our part, but you could do a lot worse in trying to patch up that situation.

No one was complaining. I'm happy for Ross that he's going to go to a team were he'll get to stick on the outside for as long as he stays healthy so that he can excel once again. Plus I've been joking about him finally managing to stay healthy once he walks in FA for a few years now.

I liked Jared Veldheer a lot more that year, and I wasn't surprised to see the Raiders pick him as high as they did. Athletically, he tested better at the combine than Campbell did. Also, Hillsdale College is a feeder school for Harvard Law, so you knew he had the work ethic and intelligence to make it at an elite private college. Veldheer also dominated on tape; which even against an admittedly lower level of competition, is more than we could say for Campbell.
