Who are the likely cap casualties for these teams that would create obvious needs in the first few rounds of the draft?

Depending if that takes into account the money Marion Barber saves the Bears by retiring, they might not have cut anyone yet. His number was round $3 million iirc and I can't imagine we got down to $500k with who we acquired.
Even if not, getting up to the $5 million teams like to keep aside shouldn't be too bad. One restructuring/extension would probably do it.

Dallas could maybe release Marcus Spears if they were to draft Brockers.

Packers can clear some space just by releasing Clifton and Driver, but are in no hurry to do either. I think Driver is due a roster bonus about the time training camp starts and Clifton is all base so nothing is due until week 1.

New England could opt to work out extensions with some of the following players:
2012 - WR Wes Welker, OT Sebastian Vollmer, FS Patrick Chung (RFA)
2013 - TE Aaron Hernandez, TE Rob Gronkowski, LB Brandon Spikes
Welker is the most likely to be extended. Matt Light is the obvious cap casualty possibility at over $3 million although he is more likely to retire.

I've seen that Lions cap number but it said the rookie salaries were already factored in.

LB Philip Wheeler agrees to terms with Raiders on one-year deal
Nice, Raider Nation really blew up his twitter yesterday after he twitted he was on his way to Oakland. Know we finally get to see those pass rushing skills that got him 19 sacks at GT

I don't think they would do them like that. They will give them ample time to find a new job.

There are still some quality free agents available, especially on the defensive line. It's surprising that guys like Luis Castillo, Aubrayo Franklin, Wallace Gilberry, Amobi Okoye, and Matt Roth haven't found teams yet.

It took Roth a while to find a team when he was a free agent last off-season too IIRC.

Hawthorne's demands could be high, Fletcher is probably a lock to return to Washington and other teams aren't wasting their time.

It likely has more to do with his negotiating tactics than his play.

Did we ever find out why he received no interest last year as arguably the top FA nose tackle? He's only going to be 32.

I think Clifton has a good chance to stick around for one more year if he fully recovers from his back surgery. That is likely what they are waiting for. It would have to be at a reduced salary though.

For those who were wondering about Tolbert signing in Carolina, they plan on using him as a fullback: http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com...as-a-fullback/
(sorry if already posted)

Gilberry is just alright. You'd get a solid rotational guy, but nothing more.

I wouldn't class any of those guys as quality. Okoye is very average.

I'm hoping Hawthorne re-signs with the Hawks so Keuchly can fall in the draft. I'm holding on to the 1% chance that Luke falls to the Giants.

1% is pushing it. No way he gets past the Eagles. NO WAY!

The Eagles traded for DeMeco Ryans. And they need a LT. I'll be surprised if they draft Luke now.

They've shown a ton of interest in Brockers during the pre-draft process; hopefully you've been working on your throwing motion.
