Colorado OG Ryan Miller

Why has there been so little news on him?

I know he is regarded as strictly a OG now, but that's it.

Anyone got anything?

He's too tall for me. Leverage will be a problem as well as his base build. His height actually holds him back a lot. His base isn't as thick as you'd like from a guard, he plays extremely too high, and his footwork is pretty sloppy from what I've seen.

I don't know how many teams have him listed as a G at 6'8 but he'll be a late-UDFA. Nothing more than a camp body to me.

He is a very hard worker who will strive to get better. In a phone booth, he can be effective but his lateral movement skills won't get him drafted by a lot of teams. He really lumbers in space but for a team that likes to run between the tackles, he might start one day. Definitely cannot handle speed too well but I still think he goes at least by round 5.

You also have to think about QB's having a tough time seeing/throwing over him if he were to become a starter. QB's like Brees, Romo, Stafford, Vick, etc. would have a tough time seeing over him, therefore those teams probably aren't interested which lowers his value. Even Aaron Rodgers would probably have trouble looking downfield over him.

A tackle wouldn't be as bad, but being that tackle as an interior lineman can cause other problems.

Not that he is super agile, but he is reportedly very good at pulling. This profile says he would be great for a ZBS as opposed to a power system. This interests me as a Raiders fan.

I liked him a good amount when I saw him early in the season, and he tested and worked out fairly well at the Combine.

And for everybody's big concern, he measured in at 6-7 (not even, technically) at the Combine, not 6-8. The guy has ridiculous strength and a strong punch, and has solid feet. A team that utilizes a lot of power would love this kid. Miller belongs in the 3rd round. I certainly see him starting someday.

Turned out to be a very good guard and had he ever been healthy for a season, he probably would have been Pro Bowler. Height was not a factor.

prior to the college season? That's what I don't get. Where was the drop off?

Its not always a drop off but rather a plateau and a slew of players that have simply become better prospects.

From a top five OT prospect to a 6th round to UDFA OG. Not when there is no major injury, poor post season performance or off the field problems. Just seems very curious to me.

To me, Miller was never considered a top OT since coming out of high school.

Well I watched a lot of film on him and have seen scouting reports which suggest he is lost in space and cannot handle speed so I doubt he would fit a ZBS system.

The host of this site had him in the top three OGs preseason and as the article explains, he is likely to move to OT in the pros.

Moving on up … While all that is going on at the top of the board, there is also plenty of volatility in later rounds. Second-day players who appear to be moving up include Boise State DE Tyrone Crawford, Cincinnati DT Derek Wolfe, Vanderbilt CB Casey Hayward, Colorado G/T Nate Miller and San Diego State QB Ryan Lindley, while Oklahoma WR Ryan Broyles appears to be at least back in the top 100 conversation after he ran for pro teams earlier in the week.

One of the more interesting battles for starting positions for the Browns will be at RG. Lauvao can be improved upon. They drafted Miller and he'll be competing for the job, along with Greco who was decent the little he played last year. Bottomline, the right side of the O-line has to be much better than it was last season. I think Pinkston will start at LG and should be even better his second season in the league.

The only college football preview mag I've been buying the past couple of years, is Phil Steele's. More than anything I like the section where he ranks the draft eligible players (for the next draft) by position. At draft time I break out his mag from the previous season. For the 2011 season he had Ryan Miller as the top OG in the country. We'll see, but he'll have the opportunity to win a starting a job, I have to believe.
