I haven't been this excited about a draft since Mendy and Sweed fell to us. That didn't work out quite as well as I'd hoped, but on draft day I was thrilled. Hopefully this one works out better.

I also wouldn't be surprised if we drafted a RB in round 5 neither. Chris Polk, Edwin Baker, and Cyrus Gray are still available. Either would be solid IMO.

Marvin Jones anyone? Good measurables and production. Kinda surprised he's still around.

Starting to get to the range where I think Polk to make it to our pick. Definitely a good value at a position where we don't have anything certain. I don't wanna go into the season without a healthy Mendy and only Redman as an option.
Polk has good hands and is solid in pass protection. Definitely a guy we can find a role for immediately, and probably a larger one in the future as Mendenhalls future with the team is anything but certain.

On the clock, I'm all for Polk or a safety like Martin or Allen.

Rainey isn't someone I was expecting but an interesting player. Not sure what to think of him at this point.

His tools I like, but his character concerns are worrisome. He had felony charges in 2010 for stalking/threats.
ESPN is saying he is good friends with Maurkice Pouncey and lived with his family after the incident. So maybe that will help keep him straight?

is Tommy Streeter still available? I like the tape I've watched on him and Mayock keeps yelling about how he would have been a 1st-2nd round guy next year if he'd stayed at Miami. At 6'5 220 and 4.4 speed, I think he's definitely worth a flier in the 7th

The only way this draft could be any better IMO is if we take a flyer on Burfict in the seventh. People said we'd ignore him due to character concerns, but we chose Adams and Rainey, so who knows.

Couple guys I'd like to throw a 7th rd flyer on:
Chris Owusu - WR- yes concussions are an issue but what the hell for a 7th
Tommy Streeter - WR - everything Burden said
Chas Alecxih - DE - def thinkin poor man's Aaron Smith - luv this guys effort - not a need by any stretch but if we could sneak him onto the PS I'd be thrilled
Conroy Black - CB - Poor man's Ike
Buddy Jackson - CB - dude is dumb as a brick but can absolutely fly
Brandon Lindsey - OLB - Another high motor/effort guy
And yes I realize there are 3 Pitt guys on there - call me a homer

Brandon Washington goes to Philly...I would've liked taking a flier on him in the 7th for OG depth.
Hell, Streeter to the Ravens.

And instantly I go from loving Streeter to hating him...

Hopefully we can get a kicker as an UDFA. Burfict too, but I read he'd go back to school.

Toney Clemmons is my dawg. Love him. Also, Terrance Fredrick was one of my late round sleeper corners that I liked.

Top UDFAs according to ProFootballTalk
.1 Arizona State linebacker Vontaze Burfict Troubled but gifted inside backer.
2. Boise State quarterback Kellen Moore Long on college wins, short on ability.
3. Washington running back Chris Polk Medical knocked him out of the draft.
4. Florida quarterback John Brantley Reports indicate the Ravens signed him.
5. Houston quarterback Case Keenum Essentially a taller Kellen Moore.
6. Stanford receiver Chris Owusu Concussions cost him on draft weekend.
7. Troy offensive tackle James Brown Once highly rated by Mike Mayock.
8. North Carolina receiver Dwight Jones Character questions killed his stock.
9. Texas A&M receiver Jeff Fuller Big wideout who played small as a senior.
10. Iowa State cornerback Leonard Johnson Press corner lacks top measurables.
UPDATE: Reports indicate Kellen Moore will with the Detroit Lions.
More notable UDFAs: Arizona State receiver Gerell Robinson, Oregon quarterback Darron Thomas, Virginia cornerback Chase Minnifield, LSU quarterback Jordan Jefferson, Oregon cornerback Cliff Harris, North Carolina defensive end Donte Paige-Moss, Ohio State center Mike Brewster, Vanderbilt safety Sean Richardson, Richmond quarterback Aaron Corp, Alabama receiver Marquis Maze, Tennessee running back Tauren Poole, Miami quarterback Jacory Harris, Pittsburgh defensive end Brandon Lindsey, Arizona cornerback Robert Golden, USC defensive tackle DaJohn Harris, Cal (PA) guard Rishaw Johnson, Pittsburgh guard Lucas Nix, South Dakota State receiver Dale Moss, USC running back Marc Tyler, Tulsa quarterback G.J. Kinne.
Judging from this list, this is what I'd like to see Pittsburgh pick up:
1. Vontaze Burfict, ILB, ASU
2. James Brown, OG/OT, Troy
3. Chase Minnifield, CB/KR, Virginia
4. Cliff Harris, CB, Oregon
5. Mike Brewster, C, Ohio State
6. Tauren Poole, HB, Tennessee
7. Brandon Lindsay, DE/OLB, Pittsburgh
8. Rishaw Johnson, OG, Cal (PA)
9. Lucas Nix, OG/OT, Pittsburgh
10. Dwight Jones, WR, North Carolina

NFL Network said that's where he was most likely going to go if he didn't get drafted. Guess they were right.
