Hmmmm - based on all the hype he got last year and with the season I expect the Steelers should have this year........I don't think Te'o will be there when we pick.

But I would love to have him.

Yeah, Te'o has been getting hype, but after the past two drafts, I'm not discounting virtually any player.

Both Cam Heyward and David DeCastro were top 15 players, maybe top 10, before their last college seasons and were supposed to be well out of our range, yet they fell.

Hopefully the trend continues

Quick mock:

1. ILB Manti Te'o, Notre Dame
Pairing this guy with Timmons would give us our starting ILBs for the next 8 years. A hammer in the middle, he's great vs. the run and would be the perfect complement to Timmons, as opposed to Sean Spence who is more like Timmons-lite.

2. OT Seantrel Henderson*, Miami
I know we just drafted Mike Adams this year and we've got Gilbert, but this kid could be something else. He's been injured and hasn't really lived up to the hype in Miami, but he's still got one more year and more importantly, the physical tools needed to be the next Orlando Pace or Jonathan Ogden. For real, that's how good he could be. He's a junior, but I think he declares and he could/probably will wind up in the first round.

3. S Ray Ray Armstrong, Miami
Another Miami Hurricane, I don't think he's as good as people say he is, but he's still got some skills. We need safeties for the future and I think we could mold him to replace Ryan Clark.

4. DT Baker Steinkuhler, Nebraska
D-line depth never hurts.

5. CB Travis Howard, Ohio State
Same for CB, I think we've got our starters and nickel with Curtis Brown, Cortez Allen, and Keenan Lewis, but we still need depth.

6. P Jackson Rice, Oregon
I'm not the biggest Jeremy Kapinos fan, so let's get some competition.

7. K Dustin Hopkins, Florida State
Same for Suisham.

teo <3

henderson should be a top 5 pick by then i think, dude has unreal ability

i would ******* LOVE TJ mcdonald next year...now that theyve taken care of the oline and dline i think safety and possibly MLB are next up as big addressing needs.

Also, i have a legit man crush on xavier rhodes

Yeah, I could also see the Steelers drafting a top flight CB next year if they were to fall.

If Wallace signs his tender and we don't work out something long term, his and Brown's contracts will be up next year. I wouldn't be shocked to see a WR early in the draft.

Robert Golden 350k ... 1,590,000 - 350k = 1.24 mill in cap savings ... maybe a little less for a signing bonus, but i doubt UFA get a signing bonus
they usually get anywhere from a 10k-30k signing bonus.

Personally... I see:

OLB(Depending on Worilds)
FS
SS
ILB (depending on Sylvester)
WR(Depending on Wallace/Clemons)
OG (Depeding on Foster/Colon + Beachum).. Watch out for Lee, Violent guy who could end up stickin.

Love the draft, but Reddick reminds me a lot of Zach Brown.. Fast, weak at POA..

Guy I would love to add? Chris Borland if he jumps early. Undersized (5'11 245lbs.) But guy is just a monster.

no point in having a vet. min. guy at the end of the bench worth i think like 1 mill ... when you can have same quality in rookie at like 350k ... that opens up a good bit of cap room
From my understanding... potential long snapper for 2ish years then he can develop into a potential LG or Swing Guard/C backup.

Don't overlook Ryan Lee of Furman from eventually nabbing a spot. His video shows him handling Miami DL pretty easily.

it's a little to early for me to start thinking about 2013 draft ... but i would really like if we ended up with one of these 3 players

Gerald Hodges , OLB, Penn State ... converted safety
Zavier Gooden, OLB, Missouri
David Amerson, CB, NC State ... but he'll probably be long gone by the time we pick

couple things:

rainey sucks at blocking. baron batch will be our 3rd down back this year.

the steelers obviously told adams to fail his drug test and lie about it, thus having him slide to the 2nd round. very smart move.

manti te'o is an absolute monster beast manchild eater

we have not seen batch do anything at all, not even in preseason...this fan base is entirely too high on him from a report he blocked harrison once on a backs on backer drill.

halyes offense calls for a guy like rainey on 3rd down, we dont need a blocking RB anymore decastro could handle it all by himself <333
