Yeah it's actually a really fair deal for both sides but Jones just never did it for me even though he's been excellent this season. Wieters should be next as that town would riot if he left.

He's still far enough away though, and he's Boras I think. So he won't sign a deal until he hits FA.

Maybe a phantom DL stint is in order for Lincecum.

They win the occasional game, but never two in a row. It's been 5 weeks since they won back-to-back.

not buying the lincecum "lost it" nonsense; opponent BABIP is up 70 points from last year, once everything stops falling in for a hit he will go right back to being dominant, especially when you factor in that he has been striking batters out at an elevated rate... the disparity between his FIP and ERA is pretty significant so something has got to give sooner or later, and we're two months into the season. sure he's walking more guys, but i would say that having the 7th highest BABIP in the MLB is more cause for his awful ERA so far this year..
looking deeper, he is giving up more line drives (24.3% vs around 19% for his career), but even if that rate held up for a few more months, his tERA (FIP variant that takes into account LD%, etc) is still sitting at 3.81 right now, a far cry from the 6.0whatever ERA he has. i mean, at the very least he isn't ubaldo jimenez who seemingly looks to be god awful for the forseeable future by every metric.

Pirates bullpen is unreal this year, but the lineup is the most pathetic I've ever seen. And thats saying a lot from a pirates fan.
We have 7 guys I'd be ok with starting and 4 lights out bullpen pitchers. Time to start dealing, no reason to have Clint Barmes in the lineup every damn day.

Good write-up, thanks man + rep. He was just supposed to be the "ace" of my fantasy team - not that it means anything. It seems that in every game he pitches he does well and just has one bad inning.

So? Strikeouts are fine, he's still an above average catcher in a league where teams have issues with catchers. Red Sox would have gladly overpaid him if he became a FA, and Yadi Molina makes $15 mil a year for godsakes. It's not a bargain, but it's not a bad deal.

The Red Sox can afford to pay someone 12 mil a year because it's only like 5% of their payroll but he is nearly 20% of the D'Backs
