In 2011, New England and New York were 31st and 27th in defense respectively and made the Super Bowl. Green Bay was 32nd in defense and went 15-1. Jacksonville, Seattle, and Cleveland were all top-10 defenses.

The old mantra of "Defense Wins Championships" is the most outdated saying in all of sports. In today's NFL, defense is practically irrelevant. Truthfully, if I had the choice of having the best offense and the worst defense (teams like Green Bay and New England) or the best defense and an average offense (San Francisco and New York Jets), I'd take option one.

Both NYG and NE's defenses played exponentially better in the postseason than they did in the regular season.

NYG's defense shut out the Falcons, held the Packers offense to 20 points (14 of which came from gifts from the refs, 17 to the 49ers and 17 to the Patriots highly touted offense.

Defense does win championships, that won't change.

I fail to see any weaknesses on one team's particular roster from top to bottom.

I fail to see why people are voting for their own teams and trying to talk up their own team. Wasn't the reason of doing a vote on here, to make the votes more reliable and fair. People trying to say why their team is good instead of just letting people think for themselves is exactly the opposite of that.

I wasn't talking about anyone specifically, TJ :P

And yeah, team A is running a 2-4-5.

For all intents and purposes, the Packers run a 2-4-5 as their base defense. I'm not sure what last seasons numbers were, but in 2010 they ran it about 70% of the time. It's why getting bigger at OLB (Nick Perry) makes a lot of sense for them. The two OLBs might really be playing DE in a traditional 4-2-5 nickel defense. It's also why Woodson is absolutely not overrated at this stage of his career. His ability to be a CB/S/LB hybrid makes the whole thing workable. They try to use Jarrett Bush in the same role when Woodson can't go, and a blind person could see the drop-off.

A lot of teams experiment with this stuff, but Dom Capers has taken it to a new level ever since he spent that year in New England. I'd love to have heard the conversations that Belichick and Capers must have had during that 2008 season.

Thoughts on every team:
A: 2 defensive linemen? That would just put more attention on Hali and Matthews.

B: Ferguson and Jenkins is an average tackle. We did disregard current injuries, but McFadden has had other injuries, and would still be prone.

C: Beadles was absolutely terrible last season. Still voted for this team.

D: Woodson would be a great slot CB, but he's never played safety. Which means you only have 1 safety, which would be a problem. Ryans hasn't been the same since that last injury.

E: Chris Johnson had one of the best o-lines in the league, and still couldn't deliver. Clady played RT in his first season. You're taking away Long's talents.

F: Average secondary in a passing league.

G: Decker might not even be the best receiver on his real team. Peyton's injuries still count. Webster is below average.

H: Probably could have waited on taking Evans. The next guard wasn't taken until several rounds later. Probably would have a vote if he didn't put Cover 2 there.

I: Kelce was the worst center in the league last season. Weatherspoon was just a good player on a bad defense.

J: Pettigrew is average. Ryan has poor arm strength.. Harper's a poor tackler.
