Chad Ochocinco finds a new home
From his own network the OCNN
Quote:
|
We just got confirmation from Chad Ochocinco that he has just signed with the Miami Dolphins. The 6 time Pro Bowler will now get a chance to finish his career in his home state. More details as they arrive.
|
He also changed his twitter avatar to his cartoon in a Dolphins uniform.
So theres that. Kind of an iffy signing. Sure he will bring some vet experience and he will for sure be one of our top 4 WR's(not really saying much though) but I dont think he is all that committed to football anymore. We'll see I guess.

Well... That's pretty much what everyone wanted, no? I mean, other than people who want the Dolphins to be a serious contender in the league they play in.

Whoever the QB is Chad will be sure to piss them off at some point.

So.. let's recap..
The Dolphins trade away one of the 10-15 best WRs in the game for two 3rd round picks. Not exactly a gold mine but he was a troublemaker.
The Dolphins sign a trouble making, sub top-30 in the NFL WR who will likely be their #1 or #2. Uh. What?
Ochocinco has talent still. The problem is, he needs a more veteran QB who can anticipate his random change of plays and no veteran QB is going to put up with his ****. So they stick him in Miami with young QBs they're trying to teach discipline..... by giving them one of the most undisciplined receivers in the NFL to throw to.
Miami is going to be to the 2010s what the Lions were to the 2000s.

Great signing... for HBO. Phins are counterproductive here, though.

You can thank Bob Bratkowski for that. The Bengals never had set routes when Chad was with the Bengals. Bratkowski would just tell the WRs to run a route for whatever the defense was doing. That is why i fully expect Gabbert and Blackmon to fail in Jacksonville.

Well of course! No sense of even playing then since you know whats up. I will go ahead and call the Dolphins and let them know there's no point to even playing since you obviously have all the answers.
Oh one day the Dolphins will be good again...one day. Rather that be 10 years from now, 20 or **** it even in Madden..they will be.

I'm sorry. That was harsh of me.... come here, buddy, I'll give you a hug.
Look. There's hope. Hopefully they'll be worse than I think and get the #1 overall next year, draft a QB, and then they have a shot!
Maybe Tannenhill is better than I think. Your RBs could be decent! Sure, you've got nothing at WR... You've got a kind of decent TE!!! You've got a fairly good pass rusher!!! A couple other good guys on D!!!!! A great LT!
Sure, you lack playmakers in a big way. Granted, your depth is terrible. Sure sure you're clearly the worst team in that division and that's including the Bills.
You know what you have plenty of? Hiiiiigh hopes... I'm talking about high apple pie in the skyyyyyy hopes!

This is a good football move. The Dolphins will now know every single play in the Patriots playbook. Nobody knows more about what goes on in Brady and Belichick's head than Chad Ochocinco. As a bonus, the Dolphins have solved their need for a long term #1 WR. I bet the Bengals feel pretty dumb right now.

For sure. All 6 plays that Ocho learned, he can share with the Dolphins! :D

Theoretically, if Chad actually took the time to learn those plays. We aren't talking about Wes Welker here.

I'm a Dolphins fan and I don't support this move but given all the reports about how our WRs can't catch, if Ocho can do something like 40 catches for 600 yards and a handful of TDs, the signing is a success. That being said, I have my doubts on his abilities to even reach that.
I have been on the "in Philbin I trust" bandwagon in terms of the WR corps because him and Sherman have always done well with mid-late round draft picks. I'm still hoping someone can emerge (I expect Hartline to but he's sidelined with injury right now) but all reports coming from Miami sound pretty awful. If the receivers continue to stink it up, Bush might get the carries needed for that rushing title he claims he's gunning for. :-\

I was a big fan of Edmund/Clyde Gates last season. Any updates on his situation in Miami these days?

Or maybe he finally starts to line up at receiver regularly.

Apparently the new staff really doesn't like him. He's been leading the drop party in practice and he's still really raw with his route running and struggling to pick up the west coast offense. His failure to take a step forward is rumored to be one of the biggest factors in the reasoning to go out and get Ocho.
In other news, the contract details came out for Ocho and he's on the vet minimum. Has some incentives that could increase his deal but if they cut him before week one, they owe him nothing. He's got a $2 million incentive but he needs to catch 80 balls to reach that.

Ochocinco should probably gain 600+ yards for the Dolphins considering their lack of targets on offense; he was a good teammate in Ne England and should help set a positive example for some of Miami's rookies and younger players. However, it's a little bit strange that a young team expected to miss the playoffs this season would sign a 34-year old receiver to prevent the younger guys from getting on the field and developing.
