i'll probably be like yay if the Hornets don't match but not paying Gordon that money isn't the worst thing in the world. As long as we don't just sign players to sign players I'm fine with sucking for 2/3 years

Can someone clear this up for me? If you're tendered as a RFA, and you're offered a contract from another team, which your tendering team matches, can you decline the matched offersheet, sign your tender and go on to become a UFA?

Almost positive if your offer sheet is matched by the original team you can't do dick about it.

That's ******* lame. So you can basically be duped into signing with a team you don't want to be with anymore? Need to do some research on this, it just seems off.

Of course you can't decline a matched offer sheet, but if you don't want to stay with your home team and fear that they will match you simply play out a year on the qualifying offer and become unrestricted the next summer, and at least from there is no type of franchise tag in which a team can force you another year. Some guys use restricted free agency to get their own money when their team is hard balling them. The Hawks wouldn't give Josh Smith an extension so he went out and signed a 45 mil contract with Memphis which Atlanta would then be forced to match, so he basically negotiated his own contract with Atlanta, through another team who he probably didn't even want to play for. Risky but necessary in certain situations. But again to answer your original question there is no turning back if you sign a contract. Once you sign with another team the home team has every right to match that offer, so if you really want out you have to wait a year and play on the qualifying offer.

Rumors nets and magic discussing bropez, Brooks and hump and like 3 future firsts for Dwight. It will never end. Ever.

Was originally going off of this past year's numbers (which indicate he has zero range).
And I'll take Camby at that contract...that's what I wanted to give him in my C's mock off-season anyway.

Trading for Dwight doesn't makes sense to me financially wise.
100 Mil 5 Years for Deron - 20 mil
40 Mil 4 Years Gerald Wallace - 10
119 mil 6 years Joe Johnson - 20 mil
80 mil 5 years dwight - 15 mil
They have no money to add depth, and when dwight says he'll sign with the nets next year how will they afford it when he wants a max contract probably worth over 100mil. And that's just for 4 players, no big deal no depth needed they'll just run with 4 guys.

Howard Beck @HowardBeckNYT
Nets are using midlevel exception to sign Teletovic to 3-yr deal. Means: 1. they cannot go over $74 mil payroll. 2. Can't use MLE for Kidd
Nets have reached deal in principle with Mirza Teletovic, source says.

Not only that, the original team can wait 2 weeks to make a decision which would leave the new team trying to sign him in FA limbo.

Why would a team under the cap have an MLE? Learned something new today.

The Nets hosed themselves by signing Wallace. Deron would be stupid to sign with them. They aren't winning **** for the next 4 years.

Landy Fields just signed an offer sheet with the Raps. ******* hilarious. Screws the Knicks out of doing the sign and trade for Nash and looks like the 3rd year of the contract he will be getting paid a ton like Asik.

Here is the tweets from Marc Stein.
Raptors and Knicks' RFA Landry Fields have agreed to three-year offer sheet
Precise value of offer TBD but Knicks will have three days to match once Fields signs July 11. Deal likely to have Year 3 spike a la Asik
Dam Craptors trying to block us from Nash. See you later Landry I cant see the Knicks matching a big offer for Fields.

Bye Bye Landry
Marc Stein @ESPNSteinLine
Sources say that the three-year deal offer sheet to Fields, with the Year 3 jump a la Omer Asik, approaches $20 million

They need to regulate those contacts. The year 3 spikes are obvious buy out/expiring contract trade years.

He didn't sign anything yet just agreed. Apparently the contract might be in order to shop him as well.

Apparently Fields is getting 4 mill the first two years and 12 mill year three. Crazy.
