I wanted Suter. Of course I wanted Suter. But that's a **** ton of money (and years) for a defenseman whose career high is 46 points and isn't physical or flashy.
I don't think he's a top 5 defenseman, but he's top 10 and will probably ascend to a top 5 eventually.

And I'm pretty sure you'd be bitter too if the Sharks were inclined to believe for over a year that Ryan Suter would be coming there.

Name 5 defensemen better than him. I have Chara, Weber, Keith, and Doughty and that's debateable.

I think he's in a group of guys that are difficult to rank.
Again, you'd be bitter too in this position. I'm mad we didn't get him. I'm also understanding of how this isn't the end of the world. What more can I say?

I'm actually a little relieved that the Wings don't have to commit that kind of money to a defenseman that isn't really very flashy or physical. I wanted him, but if the Wings hadn't lost Lidstrom this offseason, I honestly think I'd be wary of pursuing him as they did with a 13/90 offer.
|
Negro please, you know how bad you wanted Suter to take over Lidstrom's legacy. Don't pretend you didn't even want him now.

You can be bitter, but discouting his skills because he didn't come to the Wings is kinda ********.

I'm not discounting his skills. He's elite. Let's see him play some games without Shea Weber by his side before we proclaim him the NHL's best.

Because you gave Kovy a 20 year, $300 contract. Also, you still have Brodeur, so not EVERYONE leaves, friend.

Small sample size? God, you guys act like I called him a borderline No. 1 defenseman. I said he's definitely top 10, grouped with a bunch of guys that are hard to rank, and that he'll ascend to unquestioned top 5 soon. How is that discounting him?
If I sat here and just yelled obscenities cause we lost him, you guys would still be mocking me.

Nah, Suter's a much better shooter and makes a much more incisive breakout pass. Carle may be a little better at rushing the puck up the ice, although I don't think so.

For Realz, Minny are division rivals and Suter would be absolutely perfect for EJ, but it's still a great addition for them at only 7.5 per

Kovy's contract is absurd.
And if Brody left...well the universe would've exploded. that would've been too weird.
Whatever, Henrique's the next gretzky. Plus Larssex. So, there's that to look forward to

Have I mocked you in any way ?
Suter is a stud and good for the Wild to have him and Parise signed.

No, you haven't, but others have.
I'm happy for the Wild. If I were a Minnesotan, I'd probably have passed out with excitement given the absurd franchise-changing events of today. This is good for the NHL too.

That's what you get for having a favorite player other than Brodeur, ass. And **** both Suter and Parise.

So which of these studs gets to be Suter's defense partner?
Clayton Stoner, Marco Scandella, Nate Prosser, Jared Spurgeon
