Moonrise Kingdom is probably my new favorite movie. So glad I saw that instead of Savages.

Yea I really wanna see it, but it's not playing near me. That, Savages, Looper and DKR are the only movies left this year that I will pay for.
O and I watched Crazy, Stupid, Love today and it was awesome. Really great balance of story, comedy, romance, and drama. Very solid cast too.

Just finished watching Boondock Saints. It was alright, although a little slow for me on the uptake. I really enjoyed Sean Patrick Flanery and Willem Dafoe's performance. A lot of critics thought this movie was awful apparently, but the general public seemed to appreciate it a lot more. There is a bunch of stuff that doesn't make sense, but well, I guess I'll just say it's definitely action packed...which can be good and bad.

Ending of Savage pissed me off. Movie was pretty good overall, probably give it a 6.5. Worth a watch, no rush to see it. And yes, she gets double stuffed.

Critics often struggle with low budg independent films. It's also 13 years old. Its cult status didn't happen overnight.
What were some things you felt didn't make sense?

Some of the action scenes that required a sense of disbelief in order to be effective. Such as one of the brothers jumping off a very high apartment building and pretty much not dying. Also, when the two brothers are in the air duct and it breaks due to their weight the rope that is with them tangles them up and has enough leverage to support both of their weight...while at the same time the brothers are able to take out eight mafia members from one spot where they can't move hanging upside down. Just seemed like they would have the disadvantage in that situation, not the other way around. And for being such good marksman, when they encounter II Duce, they seem to hit everything except him when he's ten feet directly in front of all of them.
I also felt that II Duce having be their father out of the all the people on the planet was extremely contrived.
And just something else that wasn't necessarily something that didn't make sense, but I would have liked to have seen more of was the philosophy of what these brothers are doing challenged by someone else. We never really get any of that. We never get someone saying "hey what you are doing is wrong because so and so". Really, we just get more encouragement for the two brothers to continue with their form of vigilantism.

I hope it stays true to the games.
Quote:
When he's not playing a cold, conniving artificial man, Michael Fassbender is sharpening his hidden blade (and his hidden check book). Not because he's way into hidden knives (he isn't, as far as we know), but because he'll be playing the starring role in an upcoming Assassin's Creed film adaptation, says Variety.
Fassbender's company DMC Film is co-producing the film as well, teaming up with Ubisoft Motion Pictures. It's unclear which plot line of the game series that the film will follow, if any. Variety says the "plot revolves around a man who learns his ancestors were trained assassins after he is kidnapped by a secret org with ties to the Knights Templar, and sent back in time to retrieve historical artifacts," which sounds like a game revolving around Desmond to us. It also sounds like the basic root of the entire game franchise, so ... do with that what you will.
The new deal with Fassbender's DMC Film helps to put Ubi's previous Sony talks to bed. Talks last November apparently fizzled, though Ubi is still open to "re-discuss" things "once the production package is finalized." Ubisoft Motion Pictures will hire the project's director and writer before getting involved with any third parties – a response to the lackluster reception Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time got at the box office, which Ubi apparently attributes (at least in part) to a lack of creative control over its own property.

I watched it a few nights go as well. Awesome movie. Wouldn't mind a collegiate sequel at all.

My favorite moment in the entire movie. I haven't laughed that hard in a theatre in so long. Overall, 21 Jump Street was right up there with Zombieland for movies that far surpassed my expectations and became instant favorites.

So apparently I need to get 21 Jump Street.
Also isn't Fassbender supposed to be playing Desmond?

Thinking about it this is Hollywood. He'll probably play Desmond and all his ancestors.
