I remember when he made that guarantee against the Patriots. I also remember in that very game I think Brady got in his face after another touchdown. Dude should have just kept his mouth shut.

Smith got absolutely torched that game in '07 against the Pats. Moss killed him and Gaffney scored on that epic play where Brady threw a lateral to Moss who dropped it, picked it up, threw it back to Brady who then threw a bomb to Jab. So yeah, he should've kept his dumb mouth shut.
Then again, adjusting for education and income, I suspect that the 2.6% number looks a lot worse. Most NFL players have at least three years of college, and all of them earn greater than $100k.
Yes, but those three years of college do not transfer to three college years for a normal person. Many high-profile players showed up late when god was handing out brains, prefer to party and practice and whatever else than study, don't listen in class, yet pass every exam because they're good at sports.
“Alright NFL players!!! Its absolutely E-N-O-U-G-H!!! Drinking and Driving? How dumb can u be? Its absolutely stupid and your making the good guys that actually do right in the NFL look bad,” Ward wrote. “How easy is it to call a cab to get a ride home? So what? Leave your car get it in the am!? Stop being so dumb! Yes that’s right dumb! I’m sitting here retired enjoyed a great career now all I want to do is become a fan and I see numerous arrest for DWI in the past several weeks? How many has it been this week 4? Absolutely ridiculous your not only putting yourself in danger but your putting other innocent people in danger that don’t deserve your stupidity. Open your eyes and do the right thing. I know what its like to get go out get drunk and debate on weather to drive home or not. Call a taxi! So what if u spend some money to take one or U get a ticket on your car in the am when u go bac 2 get it At least u won’t have to pay bail and then lawyer fees and then miss game checks from being suspended for a few games. Damn this really has me furious and its so avoidable. Tighten up youngsters of the NFL because guess what it doesn’t mean National Football League it really means Not For Long league. There’s no excuse to drive drunk! NONE! If all else fails WALK! NFL players are world class athletes Walking should be nothing!”
I always knew I liked that guy.

On Friday, Lions cornerback Aaron Berry resolved a DUI arrest by striking a deal to enter a diversion program.
On Saturday morning, Berry may have violated the terms of the program before even being accepted into it.
A tipster passed along to PFT on Saturday a detailed account of an incident that has since shown up on a Dolphins message board. As the tip/rumor goes, Berry was arrested in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania after a group claimed he pointed a gun at them from inside a car.
The Dauphin County, Pennsylvania prison list currently doesn’t show Berry as being incarcerated, but the site explains that the information may be outdated, especially on weekends.
Most importantly, a league source tells PFT that initial review of the situation indicates that there may be “some fire” to what otherwise appears to be smoke.
None of this is confirmed. But it appears for now that something may have happened.
So this is way off topic but was a crazy experience for me. Im visiting family in PA and was out at the bars in Harrisburg last night. At the end of the night as my buddies and i are walking back to the car we nearly get hit by this guy backing out of a parking spot.
Naturally we were yelling to get his attention so we wouldnt get hit. Well next thing we know theyre rolling down the back window and the front passenger points a laser at us and tells us to back away.
The one friend and I just brushed it off and kept walking after the car left only to turn around and see our other friend frantically ru.ning up to a cop. Turns out that laser was attached to a glock 45... my friend being a gun enthusiast was able to describe the weapon exactly and they caught the car just a block away.
So after we went and identified the guys from the car and filled out all the police reports the one cop says... Do you guys know who that is?
I had no clue... but he says... thats Aaron Berry feom the Lions... he dropped the crucial interception in the playoff game against the Saints last year. The bleepin idiot was just arrested less than a month ago for DUI in practically the same spot.
All I could do was laugh at this point. The scariest moment in my life thus far came at the hands of a player from the sport Im most passionate about. Go figure.
At least I have a cool story now... how many people do you know that had a gun pointed at them by an NFL player.

Mercifully, the off-season is coming to an end for the Detroit Lions.
Cornerback Aaron Berry was arrested for the second time in a month early Saturday morning and charged with three counts of simple assault for allegedly brandishing a firearm, Harrisburg (Pa.) City Police said.
Berry’s arrest is the seventh by Lions players in seven months this off-season. Rookies and injured players are scheduled to report for training camp on Monday, and practice begins Friday.
“Obviously, I’m limited in what I can provide because it’s a pending investigation,” a person answering the phone at the Harrisburg Police Dept. and identifying himself as Cpl. Gautsch said; a Cpl. Kyle Gautsch works for the department. “It looks like he was charged with three counts of simple assault and there was a firearm involved. Any other information would have to be disclosed by our press-release guy.”
So the Chiefs are the only team in the NFL who won't have someone older than 30 on their roster at the start of training camp. I'm not sure what this means exactly, but it was an interesting stat.
Well accidents do happen. You can't change that. Doesn't mean you should still walk around with a gun with you at all times in the public. There is a difference between defending your house, and that.
I'm sure there are a good amount of people that wished Plaxico didn't have a gun with him when he shot himself in the club.
Yup. We would have won the sb that year if he didn't shoot himself.

Look at it this way, if Rodgers had Allstate instead of State Farm, he'd be protected from mayhem like this
