How the heck are the A's and Rays still playing in the 15th inning?
It must be hot in California because the A's are providing a great breeze with their bats. 21 Ks through 14+.
Redemption after a record-setting night would be a 12th walkoff here.

The A's 1-2-3 went 1-20 with 8 Ks. Overall they only had 10 hits in 15 innings (although they did have 10 BBs, too). The team struck out 21 times, setting a franchise record. 7 of the position players used had a BA of .250 or less and they get the walk-off from a guy with a .218 average who went 0-7 up to that point. The sac fly was shallow and right at a fielder and the runner at 3rd, Inge, is certainly not what one would consider fast.
enough with this fairy dust BS

Saw that Ken Rosenthal tweeted something about Garza being a possibility for the Reds. I'd much rather see a bat but if it allows for us to get rid of our weak link (Leake) then I could get behind it. Don't see it happening though.

Kind of a bizarre trade by AA. Usually he is the one who trades for the undervalued/underperforming player with potential. Don't see how the Pirates are in win-now mode with Snider and Marte as their corner OFs though. Makes no sense to me.

Because they are better than the players they replaced?
Also, I'm guessing the Braves believe Vizcaino as a headed to the Bullpen and were not keeping him as a starter because of all the arm issues. I hope he can rebound and start without too many issues.

They also lead the league in ERA, lead the league in pitches taken and lead the league in homers since the break. This is just the moneyball strategy all over again, be patient at the plate, work pitchers and force them to throw good pitches to hit.
And here is the best part: The team is built on good pitching and timely hitting and the team is getting Brandon McCarthy, Brett Anderson and the leading strikeout man in all of baseball Dan Staily for a run.

Looks like Victorino to the Dodgers for Lindblom and another player is getting close.

I hate Pirate fans. They say they would trade Hanrahan and that he is expendable, but are soooooooooooooooooooo pissed about trading Lincoln and his 50 career relief innings.

The Dodgers really killed it at the deadline this year.

So the Dodgers get Hanley + League + Victorino + possibly Dempster, while the Giants got Marco Scutaro.
Lovely.

This. People are going crazy about trading Lincoln. I can't even comprehend it.

I think it has to do with people not knowing who Travis Snider is. Both are under performing first rounders. But Snider>Presley and getting a high upside position player>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>m iddle relief guy.

I wouldnt say Snider has high upside at this point. He strikes out waaaaay too much and can't hit lefties. Snider has the potential to be a slightly above average corner OF at this point in his career.

I have a feeling neither Dempster nor Garza are going to be sent out. If they do get shipped I have a feeling TheoJed will attach Soriano with it.

And that is still an improvement over what the Pirates have had recently.

...but it goes against the hyperbole you were using about Snider earlier. You are criticizing Pirates fans for overrating Lincoln while you are overrating Snider way more.

Seems like every Toronto fan is upset at this trade. All the high profile baseball talk heads like the deal for Pittsburgh. It's a low risk/high reward type of move. I like it.

Looking like Dempster to Dodgers and Pence to SF are close.

I find it funny how you use Toronto's fans' emotions as justification for why its a good trade but then completely dismiss Pitt fans. I understand liking the trade but your reasoning and hyperbole is hilarious.
