He's going to join Aaron Fultz, Rheal Cormier, J.C. Romero, etc. in the pantheon of Phillies middle relievers who were depended on far too much because everyone else was worse.

Psh, Simmons is going to come back better than ever, and be better than Trout could ever dream of being.

What about Mike Fiers? He's only pitched 66 innings, but he has a 1.77 ERA in 10 starts. Obviously he won't keep that up, but he has a great chance to stay below 3.

The correct answer is Todd Frazier. Everyone nod in agreement.

Bryce Harper is going to win it with all the hype he gets. If not Harper then it should be Todd Frazier for sure.

AL rookie of the year award will go to Mike Trout.
NL rookie of the year award will go to Wade Miley.
Unless August/September breakout by different rookies happens, I don't see any strong challengers against both Trout and Miley.

I still say it's going to be Harper. Miley has a 3.00 E.R.A. If he has 1 or 2 bad starts it'll leave the door open for Bryce.

Harper hasn't been great either though. .258/.334/.425 isn't exactly setting the world on fire. It is great for his age, but it's not like he is odds on favorite with those type of numbers. Rizzo might surpass him by the end of the year in ROY voting.

Y'all are missing out on the Rizzo train. He is going to continue to destroy worlds and end up with a better statline in like half as many games and even lower percentage of ABs. RIZZZOZZZZ
Seriously though, how many games/ABs do you need to qualify for ROY?

Once you go over 50 IP/130 AB or 45 days of service time you're no longer considered a rookie by MLB.

Wait, that can't be right. How would Bryce Harper win it if he already has 318 ABs? Or is it just whatever season you go over that number, that is your "rookie" season?
Rizzo appeared in 49 games last year, so I guess he's no longer a rookie? Er wait, doesn't count post Sept. 1 appearances, so now I'm confused. Someone just tell me if Rizzo is a rookie or not plz.

No as long as you're under those benchmarks when you get called up you're fine.

Sorry didn't see your question but Rizzo is not eligible to win ROY. He had 68 days of service time last year.

I think you are lying to me to crush my Rizzo dreams. The interwebz says he was only up for 44 days and 128 ABs while on the 25 man roster.

Hmm Baseball Reference has him at .068 service time so that's 68 days. I guess they're including 2012 though.
So after all that then yes he is eligible but only by 3 AB's and 1 day of service time. Sorry for all the confusion.

Addison Russell has been promoted to A- in Vermont. He's got a wRC+ of 202 so he's put in a month twice as good as the average hitter in the AZL.
He could move pretty quickly if he plays well in Vermont.

I'm with Harper unless he really falls off over the next two months. His impact on their record looks to be better than the rest.
As for Trout, forgetaboutit. I won't be stupid enough to compare him to Mickey Mantle but there are similarities there besides the stats.

The Cubs are 18-11 in games where Rizzo starts so that bolded part isn't necessarily true.

I think you're reinforcing my point which is why Rizzo is in the discussion of impact rookies, he just hasnt got the number of at bats to get votes in my opinion.
