I was on the Brockers bandwagon. I never wanted us to draft DeCastro or any OG in round 1. I didn't even want Iupati. NO OG IN ROUND 1. NEVER... not for me.

Do you think it's time for Jerry to stop talking about Dez? For the last week he's been pretty non-stop in the media talking about Dez. I was fine with a few statements, but he keeps going on and on. At some point I'd have to think it could potentially be harmful talking about Dez like that in the media. I do believe getting your point across was justified, but time to stop.

Thoughts?

Love it. 10char

Quote:
Mr. Bryan Broaddus
Where Bruce Carter is beating Dan Connor right now is in his ability to play pass coverage, but also as a blitzer in different packages. During blitz period, Carter and Lee were the inside linebackers, and on the snap, Carter slants hard from his right to left and knocks Phil Costa on the ground as Lee shoots through the opening behind him for a pressure in Tony Romo’s face. It was a perfect use of a pick to get Lee on the rush. Later in team period, Ryan lines Carter up as an outside linebacker opposite Ware. At the snap, Carter is able to get underneath Tyron Smith to create pressure from the backside.

Hate it. ESPN

** Costa was busy at center with the struggles of David Arkin and Harland Gunn. Arkin had four poor exchanges before he was replaced. Gunn had one shotgun snap that was low. That led Costa to take more reps. He was not immune from mistakes either. He snapped one early to Romo, causing the quarterback to flip the ball away in disgust.

Even if Plax would help the team, it would never happen with Jason Garrett running the show. He just isn't going to bring those guys in. He is finally starting to change the culture around Valley Ranch, he isn't going to bring in Plaxico Burress.

Also, to be honest, Costa really isn't that bad. He's 6'3'' 310 with 32'' inch arms, all the exact average if not a bit above for the rest of the NFL. He's also smart, and people need to get the shotgun snap thing out of their heads. He had 3 bad snaps against Washington in his 3rd ever NFL game. His snaps have been fine since. I'm sure even pro-bowl centers have a bad snap in practice once in a while. We just need to get Bernadeau and Livings healthy at the guard spots so the OL can gel.

By no means am I a Costa supporter, but the offense is going to be fine. Again, if Livings and Bernadeau get back soon and the OL starts to get comfortable, the offense is going to be top 5 in the league. You can win a superbowl with this offense no doubt.

Callahan also should help him get a bit better. He can't get worse. Costa isn't anything to write home about, but he is serviceable. Can't have a pro-bowler at every spot.

nah i felt like kowalksi was just as good if not better in the limited action he saw, and at least he didnt get driven back like costa numerous times, hell brandon spikes a linebacker ran him over. a 250 lb linebacker ran over a 310 lb center thats pathetic costa is a backup player, he almost as a bad a center as alan ball was as a safety.

The Dallas Cowboys Facebook page posted that Ogletree looks to have the 3rd spot locked.

Yep. That's right. I do believe Garrett is making a conscious awareness of that. Plax doesn't work afterall considering that.

What? Dez is producing just fine. He was 6th in the league in touchdowns last year, and isn't even close to his potential. Besides, receivers usually take a little time to adjust, and he was suspended his last year at Oklahoma State. If he can stay on the field, you don't need to worry about Dez at all.

Bruce Carter i'll give you, but so far he is healthy and getting all the practice reps, and he has to be much better than Brooking and Bradie James.... right?

Pay no attention to him what so ever in regards to Dez. According to him he's a marginal talent that has yet to produce anything in this league thus far. It's a ridiculously argument that is poorly thought out but when your in a rush to blame ol Jerry for everything that tends to happen. I'd take the time to dispel that notion but I don't even bother with trolling arguments.

But yea, if you don't post pro bowl numbers in your first 2 years in the league at WR that basically means you haven't produced yet.

EVeryone needs to get off Dez's back regarding the production thing. Go back and look at TO's 2nd year in the league. Virtually identical.

Now, if he doesn't make a step forward the next two years pretty significantly, then we can talk about meeting expectations.

It took Andre Johnson 5 years before he scored the amount of TD's Dez did as a rookie after being out of football for a year, and what Dez did last year with 9 TD's would be AJ's career high. All this with him not having an off-season up to this point. It's just a ridiculous point to even try to make.

Dez has a TON of things to work on, and he deserves to get called out for conditioning, finishing games, all those things he slacked on. But let's keep it into perspective and not acknowledge what type of player he is either. Considering he's going into his 3rd year and his numbers will improve, his progression and numbers have consistently gone up since he came into the league, which is exactly what you would expect out of a WR.

If Dez stays healthy (which is a real question mark), he could end up with the best WR numbers in the league this year. 3rd year is the breakout year for many WRs.

So by that reasoning, if he stinks after his third year do we write him off?

When has he ever stunk? Sorry to inform you, but he's already proven that he's not a bust. He's good, it's just a matter of just how good he can be.

Write him off..... .....

Classify "stinks" in your definition? For me, a season of 700-800 yards, 6 TD's, and playing in 14 or more games was a huge stinker of a season. I'm not sure what would lead you to believe that's going to happen and he would get much worse after his second season after improving year after year but I guess anything could happen.

The only thing stopping him from 1000+ yards and 10+ TD's is injury. He may not explode with 17 TD's or something like that, but 75/1150/12 seems very attainable for me and would be considered a great season.

Is it me or do you get the feeling he's rooting for him to have a terrible season so he can run back in here and scream "I told you so" for the next 4 years? I don't get it...

I will be shocked if he has a great season.

People like Dez always seek out the first rock in the road, trip and fall face-first into the dirt.

Some folks just can't get out of their own way.

... and for the record, I liked the pick just like Jenkins but ya gotta cut your losses when dealing with losers.
