Plenty of movies to be excited about still. In addition to those mentioned, there is also - Killing Them Softly, Seven Psychopaths, Cloud Atlas, Argo, The Perks of Being a Wallflower, Hyde Park on Hudson, and Skyfall. I will also be checking out Expendables 2 and Celeste and Jesse Forever without shame.

Gotham City may typically be located somewhere in New Jersey, but it seems the Batcave is officially in Greenwich, Connecticut.
A hardcore Batman fan is having a $2 million theater constructed in his house by Elite Home Theater Seating to resemble the Dark Knight's cave of solace. Complete with a batcomputer, Tumbler, cape and cowl, secret passages, sound effects, gargoyles, a 180 degree screen, and even a Bat-themed elevator.
The images above are apparently CG mock-ups of what the finished product will look like. Elite HTS executive Bobby Bala told Daily Mail, "The Dark Knight themed custom home theater was actually a design concept we did free of charge for one of our previous clients, mainly just for fun. Personally, I'm a huge Batman fan and with a background in CG animation, we were able to finish up the design within a couple weeks."
Crazy, huh? Check out the Elite HTS website for a few more images.

Lincoln (Spielberg + DDL, probably)
Dark Knight Rises
Moonrise Kingdom
Django Unchained (likely)
The Hobbit part uno
maybe Brave. Looper sounds good but the academy hates scifi movies, so it would have to be blow away good to get nominated. Lawless sounds cool too, but who knows if those movies will be good or mediocre (a la Prometheus).
Oh yeah, and of course Magic Mike and Twilight. Obvious/no brainers.

I love kids movies, but Brave has no business winning any awards other than most spectacularly mediocre childrens film.
And my love of DDL aside, I have very low expectations for Lincoln. Spielberg is a big knock and it being about Abe, a historical character Hollywood so often misinterprets and over-glorifies, means I'm expecting very little from that film, sort like Scott's W and JFK. Expect crap and hope it's not complete crap.

No doubt, but it doesn't even deserve any nominations.

Not too many exciting animated films, this time around. Brave was very average. Wreck-It Ralph could be good. ParaNorman doesn't look quite as good as Coraline. Then there's Burton's thing. Meh.

I really wish it was someone other than Spielberg directing the movie. Such a ******* hack. I find his movies these days are just bland and in a fair amount of cases downright ******. Easily the most overrated director working. So disappointing because DDL as Lincoln is perfect.

I simply trust in DDL. He is one of those actors who does not pick bad roles or act in bad movies.

Never saw War Horse, but I know it was up for Best Picture. Can't say what kind of form I find Senor Spielbergo to be in, but I am excited for this project.

Wrong haha. DDL will be amazing as Lincoln. No arguments. I just think Spielberg will find a way to ruin the movie. Make it cookie cutter ******** with no edge that will leave me thinking that I just wasted my time watching it. I hope not though. It will get nominated for Best Picture because the Academy Awards are ******* ******** but I just can't see it being a good movie.
I really am hoping to see Phoenix, Hoffman, and The Master all winning major awards. People that have seen the movie early are gushing about how incredible and different it is. I am glad P.T. Anderson is doing his own thing and making such original and fresh feeling films. I can just imagine how great Lincoln would have been with P.T. Anderson at the helm but **** it, I much prefer him directing The Master and I cannot wait to see how much Phoenix kills it (nevermind Hoffman who is always good for performance of the year status).

Nine was pretty meh.
I'm not a huge Spielberg fan at this point, but I wouldn't dismiss it right away. The guy is obviously capable of making one of the best movies of all time so maybe he can pull something out this time with DDL.

Never seen Nine, didn't even know he was in it. But apparently he was up for quite a few awards for his performance. But that anomaly aside, I still stand by my assertion.

Just awful. Jeff Bridges was great in Crazy Heart and all but Hoffman was far and away better. To not even get a nomination shows how unreliable the Oscars are. Hell I would have given it the screenplay and Best Picture win in 2009 as well. Easily one of the best films I have even seen. It hit me like a ******* brick and every time I watch it I seem to like it even more.

Yup, couldn't agree more.
Synecdoche is my favourite movie of all time. Just really relateable and really ******* rewatchable.

Insanely rewatchable. Own it on Blu Ray and have probably seen it 15 times. I hate making lists these days but my sentimental favorite film is certainly Synchedoche, New York.

Are you guys being sarcastic about Synchedoche? It was interesting...but re-watchable? That's not the word that comes to mind.

Not being sarcastic at all. Try re-watching it again, I bet you will notice tons of things you didn't see in your first viewing

I pick up new things every time I watch it, love quoting the movie, I think the performances are brilliant across the board, and I find it just a beautiful film. Kaufman wanted it to be kind of like a theatre piece in that each time you watch the film it is a new experience. I think he succeeded masterfully and with the grace of a veteran director. There is so much going on that I didn't pick up my first few times watching.

Since when was it a 2009 movie? I thought it counted for 2008. Thus, Mickey Rourke should have won it that year for The Wrestler regardless.

It was released at Cannes May 2008. It was a 2009 movie eligible film you fool! Rourke was ******* incredible, I agree with you on that.
