I contend that no lynch like any other strategy can work if it is executed properly. If the mafia knows there will be a no lynch then there is no reason for them to vote anything else. The problem isn't with the no lynch just the execution there of.

I don't know about the rest, but this seems logical. I guess the problem this time was that the town didn't get any help from investigators, trackers or watchers on Day 2. I've usually seen that happen. Unpredictability! That's why I like these games. :)

Rarely are those guys of any help day 2. VERY rarely. We will see what happens in the game going forward though.

In no way can you blame this lynch on the fact that we went no-lynch day one. How many games have there been on this site? Maybe 20 (not including mini-games). And how many times have we lynched mafia day two? Three times. With a usual 4:1 ratio of good to evil, that is not a very good record. Once was because Vidae just happened to investigate the Godfather when he was incompetent and one was actually after a no lynch day one.
The fact is we get diddly poo out of almost every Day One, so why lynch a good person when it is not going to lead to any pertinent information.

Because SP was the leading suspicion on day one?

The way things work now a no lynch is inevitable. The mafia just sits back and let's it happen. We find out NOTHING about anything day one. It has become a complete waste. With a lynch day one yes a good person may very well die but there is a ton to learn from that. It's not likely we lynch a mafia day 1 but if they have to defend each other day one to stop a lynch of one of them from happening that is a HUGE amount of info. These games are about having fun and day one's have become the opposite of fun.

I am going to love to see what actually usable information will come out of lynching SP.

I can't discuss it now but I am guessing not much. A little bit but really that was a complete waste of two days.

The problem is that this statement just isn't true. If so learned so much from lynching someone day one, why do we always lynch a good guy day two?

Because you are all tards haha. I am not saying a baddie will always be lynched day two after a day one lynch but two good guys in a row provides a ton of info. Again, baddies will usually back each other up a bit and try to sway things another way. Things like that get picked up on later in the game. Why was a good guy lynched day two in SP? There is no way to get every lynch right but you can see how people play mafia like there is. Sometimes you just have to go with your gut and people certainly need to be okay going after others players, putting some heat on them, and seeing how they react. People are too afraid to do anything and the current sentiment in if you are against a day one no lynch you are evil. I think no lynch is only effective as a last resort not a foregone conclusion.

I hope JRD is doing his homework because he is the one who said we would learn "a lot" by lynching SP.

We learned that half the mafia voted to lynch SP and half didn't (guessing here). Really narrows it down doesn't it?
