Chargers Ryan Mathews Out 4-6 Weeks With A Broken Clavicle
http://t.co/PJp7IK4q
That hurts especially since the Chargers have zero depth at running back because A.J. Smith let Mike Tolbert walk. Ronnie Brown? Curtis Brinkley? Good luck with that.

Maybe that is why Chan didn't let Fred or CJ touch the ball vs the skins.
Smith didn't let Tolbert walk they offered more than CAR he wanted to play close to home.

Do we need a new thread for a 4-6 week injury for a player that hasn't even made his mark in the NFL yet?

Hasn't made his mark in the NFL yet? I think he at least made his mark last season, lol, and is the focal point of the Chargers offense.

I don't think he has. He's been injury prone his whole career and has 1,100 yards last year which is nothing in today's NFL. If he was out the whole year ok but this is nothing.

Well this year was predicted to be his break out year based on his progression and his large role in the Chargers offense. He was also a fantasy first rounder. It's a big enough deal for a new thread. The OP should apologize for creating meaningful football discussion I guess?

I never argue about new threads but this to me is just meaningless for a whole new thread. Then again I'm discussing it so whatever. I'll bow out now.

Rivers has a down year and now Mathews is the vocal point of that offense? Far more lol worthy than suggesting that he hasn't left his mark in the NFL.

Gotta think Phillip Rivers talks more than Ryan Mathews.

In all honesty, any fantasy first-rounders injury is worthy of a thread. Im assuming 90% of posters play fantasy football so therefore this means a lot more to 90% of the posters here.

Yeah this is why I wait till after preseason to do a draft. Sucks for Mathews. I hate running backs getting hurt because their careers are so short as it is.

Was never a fan of his. Especially after he burned me in fantasy football. **** that guy, I'm never touching him again. He's fantasy football suicide.
But the Chargers are really stupid for not having a backup plan to an injury prone player.
I never really thought he was all that good to begin with to be honest. I keep hearing how he's gonna break out, but there's really nothing about his game that wows me. He just seems like a regular running back. There isn't amazing power, or game changing speed, or a dynamic ability to catch out of the backfield, he's not gonna bruise up a defense over 4 quarters with sheer power.
He just screams average to me.
Never understood all the hype.

He has above average power and speed, and is good at catching out of the backfield. But at least you admit to not paying attention to west coast teams so I forgive your ignorance.

Ronnie Browns fantasy value certainly rose after this! Matthews just can't seem to stay healthy though, this could be a make or break season if he can't get it together.
I pray to god DMC doesn't get hurt this pre season, wouldn't mind him getting a very limited amount of touches. I still don't like the fact that our 3 RB's on our roster have been injury prone while in the NFL. Cedric Benson seems to make too much sense to not pick up as DMC's compliment.
