Seantrel isn't traveling because he has barely practiced because of a concussion. Dunno why we're taking that number though.

Doesn't seem like a smart move to take 60 when ACC rules allow you to take 72, especially for the first game with how young you guys are.

Where are you getting the 60 number from? It's at least 67.

I know he's not current Cane, rather a Cane Alum, but the Sean Spence injury has really bummed me out. If it was simply a year away it wouldn't be as bad, but the severity of the injury is concerning. I hope he makes a full recovery since his size already brings him many limitations. He was definitely my favorite Cane since Jonathan Vilma.
Brandon Washington was also cut. Bet he wishes he had stayed another year. Tommy Streeter also hit the IR for his foot. Cane alums aren't doing too well thus far...

Yea, really wish those two had stayed. Such a freaking shame.

Duke Johnson
Malcolm Lewis
Ereck Flowers
Gabriel Terry
Tyriq McCord
Earl Moore
Tracy Howard
Rayshawn Jenkins
Deon Bush
All played yesterday. Might have been a few more too. Still have a long way to go with the defense, but man is this going to be fun to watch.

Still not entirely sure why the defence plays so soft.
Sadly good teams are going to stomp on the Canes this year - BC moved the ball at will.

Lack of a pass rush from the front 4 is going to be a huge problem in every game. Other than Perryman, the other linebackers showed no play recognition. How many TE/RB were running free on every single play action?

The other problem that I see is just a complete lack of disguised looks. The QB had time to analyze the defense and send a simple guy in motion to find out if it was man or zone. There was no crowding the line and then dropping back, zone blitzing, etc. Confusing the OL/QB is a huge part of having a successful defense and it was just way too vanilla out there.
The only wrinkles thrown at BC were delayed blitzes (which seemed to work well) and a few stunts in the 2nd half on obvious passing downs.
I will give D'Onofrio the whole season but there needs to be some serious improvement if we want to even think about beating the better teams on the schedule

I will say I thought the offense had a pretty good game, especially the OL and the receivers did play a LOT better after those early drops. I am still a bit skeptical on Morris as he has not gotten much better at one-read-and-run but it wasn't as frequent from when we saw him last. He is slowly improving. The tools are there, the guy is pretty slippery for a QB and we all have seen his absolute cannon for an arm. Really rooting for him to put it together this year.
Any significant injuries yesterday?

Sounds like Curtis Porter is the only one that's going to miss the KSU game.
Not shocked at all about the defense being insanely vanilla early, it was the same thing last year and even then we had a lot more older guys on the team. Obviously it needs to improve a ton, and yesterday was down right awful (worse than it should have been), but I think there will be big improvements like there were last year. We need the young pass rushers to grow up and we need Porter healthy. He's the only guy that can get any disruption inside (though Luther Robinson flashed some yesterday).

The team is gonna take their lumps this year but my god is it going to be fun watching Duke Johnson. Having a guy like him who can take it to the house anytime he touches the ball will keep us in most games.
I agree with what DJP said about the LB'ers. With the exception of Perryman, the unit was awful. Jimmy Gaines was completely lost on a few plays.

So... we didn't play well yesterday. Apparently Luther Robinson got in an argument with the coaches and they cleaned out his locker.

Huge win for Golden. 2-0 in ACC play, 3-1 on the year with 3 road games. What a comeback, great game from Mike James. Defense with some huge stops without Denzel. So much to work on, but a huge win for Golden and this team.

Greta comeback after giving up the big lead. That was a lot of fun to watch. Yeah, Mike James was great. Props to Davon Johnson too. Nice to see him get an opportunity and make the most of it.
