Week 1 discussion
Games are starting soon, why not discuss them? Best part...no more godawful preseason. Enough of the vanilla games where the entire starting team is replaced midway through the 1st quarter. We get a full slate of 16 games for 3-4 weeks, until teams start having their bye weeks (anywhere from 4-8 teams get a bye week at the same time).
Wednesday
Cowboys @ Giants
Sunday
Colts @ Bears
Falcons @ Chiefs
Eagles @ Browns
Redskins @ Saints
Rams @ Lions
Patriots @ Titans
Jaguars @ Vikings
Bills @ Jets
Dolphins @ Texans
49ers @ Packers
Seahawks @ Cardinals
Panthers @ Buccaneers
Steelers @ Broncos
Monday
Bengals @ Ravens
Chargers @ Raiders
Thoughts: Not homeristic of me to say that 49ers-Packers is the premiere matchup. Top D facing top O from last year, last years #1 and #2 seeds, Alex vs Aaron, the history, etc. It'll basically be a national game too, and i can't wait for it.
Other games i'm looking forward to- Seahawks/Cardinals (how does Russell Wilson play in the regular season against a underrated defense), Bills/Jets (new offseason additions, is the Jets O still inept in the regular season), as well as Falcons/Chiefs and Eagles/Browns.

Oh, in your face Hines!
Packers - 49ers should be an awesome game. I'm really nervous/excited/jacked for this Sunday.

I'm curious to see if that Packer defense has improved any. Last year's Packer defense was one of the worst tackling defenses I've ever seen. Their tackling was god awful. And they played very soft zones bc their secondary was awful. And they had no pass rush to speak of. Clay looked mediocre.
So in short, their defense looked awful. And if they don't show any signs of improvement, GB will not be a favorite in my eyes to go to the SB. They have to shore up that defense.

No we haven't. We still are. It definitely was. Very true. Yep, so annoying. NO!!! THAT IS NOT TRUE!!!
Yes, it did. I doubt we will. We do, but we won't.

The Chiefs could be with out 4 starters on D week one. So, same **** different year.

Bengals-Ravens is a very interesting one. Could potentially be a statement game for the Bengals if they can pull off a victory.

It can't get any worse but there are still questions at every level. Will we get any production from a DL beside Raji, can Perry be that desired force opposite of Clay, and what the **** is going on in the secondary? Woodson is back at safety and basically an all purpose defender. Williams is our #1 corner and he doesn't seem to be nursing his shoulder like all of last year. Davon House on the contrary will be nursing a shoulder, Hayward seems to be the favorite as our #2 although no one knows for sure. They left a lot to be desired but the addition of new faces (Worthy, Daniels, Perry, Hayward) should give them some kind of reason for hope. We dedicated a whole draft to our D and I trust Ted Thompson.

I'm interested in seeing how the 49ers new offensive players do Week 1. Completely revamped their WR and RB corps. Added AJ Jenkins, LaMichael James, Randy Moss, Mario Manningham, and Brandon Jacobs. And holdovers like Gore, Kendall Hunter, Anthony Dixon, Kyle Williams, and Crabtree have all improved as a result of added competition, at least according to the beat writers/coaches. Packers weren't a very good D last year so if they're the truth, they should be able to produce on a reasonable level Week 1, at least as a whole group.

I'm most worried about Vernon Davis. Jenkins, James, Jacobs, Dixon, Williams, I don't see any of them doing much on Sunday.

We should be able to dominate the Colts. SHOULD. Like I said, this Bears team, when playing their best, can beat anyone in the league.
Likewise, they can turn around and lose to anyone too...Just for this one game, I hope like hell Luck plays like a rookie.

We've dropped 5 straight to the Jets. Hopefully we can show that we can score on them. Stevis vs. Revie should be a fun matchup to watch after last season. New look defense against what is expected to be a trainwreck of an offense. Could be a pretty ugly game. Hopefully some Fred Jackson consistency with a couple big pass plays mixed in can be enough. I'm not at all comfortable with our passing game.

Starting the season on Wednesday is lame. I'm gonna ignore that game. The real opening day for the NFL in Sunday.
By the way, am I the only one who feels staying healthy is more important for teams in week one than winning? The Giants, Falcons, Broncos, Steelers are 2011 playoff teams I can think of off the top of my head that started 0-1 last season.

Sean Locklear is going to start Wednesday night at LT for the Giants.
In other news, I look for DeMarcus Ware to have a big game.

He is one of the best pass rushers in NFL history. It would be more of a surprise for him not to get at least 16 sacks.
