As sad as it is that I'm still holding onto the hope that the Phillies have a shot at the wild card, I'm not shocked at all at what just happened.

So here's a question. Now that the Red Sox have no interest in even showing up for games wouldnt it make sense to just bet against them for the remaining games this season? It's bad enough we have to suffer with them might as well make some money while we're at it.

This has to be the lowest point of the Pirates season. Watching this team play the last month I don't even know how you could think they'd finish .500 let alone make the playoffs.

One of the guys I listen to on the radio said this is the best way to maximize your sports experience. It works best with a season like football with a shorter season. Put down a small bet against your team every game. That way if they win you're still happy. If they lose at least you have the money as consolation.
Betting on your team is a tough proposition because if they lose you just lost money and you're down cause your team lost.

I've tried that, but I find with small bets if rather have the win than the winnings. Sad as it is

Believe it or not i used to do that back in the days when the Bruins lost to the Canadians on a regular basis. As you mentioned it softens the blow a bit.

It depends on your perspective. A few years back when Stanford was terrible I bet against them regularly won quite a few bets; but once we became competitive and actually could win games, the winnings didn't cover up the hurt enough to keep doing it.

I really, really wish Vernon Wells wasn't such a nice guy. I'd love to see him post that pic on his twitter and follow it up with a pic of him with shades on and captioning it "deal with it"
would have been great to piss the fans off
