I just realized this LSU vs Washington game is the battle of the former Vols d-coordinators.

74 FBS teams were contacted and either demanded way too much money or flat said no. If WV didn't back out at the last second it isn't an issue, the least they could have done is canceled after they joined the Big 12 and not during the offseason.

I had high hopes for this Washington LSU game, but LSU is on another level than them.
UCLA's brent hundley has a ton of confidence and keeps testing the Nebraska secondary.

Taylor Martinez just embarassed UCLA. I think that was like a 97 yard run.

Did anyone know the NCAA has a HS-esque running clock rule? Apparently they do and it will be used the rest of the FSU/SS game.

Can't wait to see what Alex Neutz can do in conference play. No amazing player, but he has 4 touchdowns against FCS Morgan State after grabbing one against Georgia last week. He's had some big games before and is definitely a guy you can feel comfortable taking a shot with one-on-one.

way too much money? Obviously, they didn't pay enough to meet the demand. The world doesn't revolve around FSU. Another FBS team would have had to drop a scheduled game and get travel arrangements set up. That all adds up, especially on short notice.

WVU has to play more conference games now compared to their normal Big East conference scheduling. They have out of conference contracts and rivalries to preserve and something had to give. Nobody is scared to play FSU

FSU only got $650k from WV for them backing out, it makes no sense to spend more than that to bring in another opponent.

FSU-SS game called due to lightning.
55-0 FSU. What does Vegas do with this game and the 70.5 point spread?

Well let's look at the 3 alternatives to fill in:
Cupcake: A team like Kent State would have to not take a paycheck game somewhere else and they'd end up making less, especially after backing out.
Middle of the road: Either drops a paycheck game or has to pay a cupcake team for dropping them. They end up making less.
Powerhouse: First off: yeah, right. They either pay a cupcake or a middle of the road team for dropping them and they end up losing money on the transaction.
Yeah, maybe 650k wasn't enough.

For reference, Alabama payed Western Kentucky $1 million for that game. If WKU can command that, so can't virtually every program but UMass, UTSA, South Alabama, or Texas State, and IIRC all 4 had scheduled games today.

Seems to throw a nice ball and a lot of them have been relatively catchable...
but some are just head scratchers.

UCLA vs. Nebraska is a shootout. Nebraska was favored by 8.5. damnit... definitely should have taken that bet.

This is the perfect game for Gus Johnson. Which pretty much means we have a couple of terrible defenses.

Exactly. What the hell are you arguing? FSU offered 650k (per YOU) and nobody dropped what they had going and took 65% of what they could have got elsewhere?
Also, 650k - the fees of dropping the opponent = not enough to justify doing it.
