This is exactly what is going to be interesting about it. The other prime time games will have the next best crews, but the ones few people will see...who knows.

I've said since the beginning of the preseason that these refs aren't actually that much worse than the regular ones. Instead, people are just paying closer attention to them and a lot of the mistakes that they catch are ones that any crew, replacement or not, probably would have made.
Like, there was a minor one in last night's game that we couldn't even see happening. Only because the announcers mentioned it did we even know it happened. (One ref signaled first down and another signaled 3rd.) I bet little things like that happen in literally every game, but we never even see it. They get corrected and everyone moves on.

We'll see how much that holds true come Tuesday. Im sure ESPN will put together a montage of the mistakes made over the weekend, some during the preseason were pretty bad. Im happy the Packers are one of the higher profile matchups this week, and next, and the week after. I sympathize for the other teams in smaller markets that arent on during primetime.

Yeah, stuff like that happens all the time. Like you said, it's literally every game. It seems like at least once a game you'll see one ref spot the ball in one location, and another ref (who saw the play from a better angle) will come up and discretely move the ball a half-yard one way or the other.

Some of the gaffes in pre-season were pretty horrible though. Like calling that one punt a touch back and it bounced at the 7 or so. One ref clearly didn't understand how to work his mic, one didn't understand how to phrase the call. I have just noticed more mistakes like that then anything. ESPN doesn't help with their "highlights" of the funniest mistakes because we all know the regular guys make terrible ones.
It was just noticeable to me with the little things. Last night was good though, I didn't see any ticky tack PI fouls but they did call a few.

Think about that game the Broncos won on the Brandon Stokley freak runback TD. Think about Megatron's TD that was ruled not a TD. This **** happens with normal refs too.

Is this still an issue? Really? The refs on the field called it properly according to the rule. Take all of the offense you want with that rule, it is dumb as hell regardless of how the NFL tries to justify it, but the refs on the field that day didn't make a mistake.
If you want better, real examples, look at any post season game Bill Leavy does or the Hochuli Chargers/Broncos fumble.

Just gunna add that the replacement refs did a pretty good job in the KC/Falcons game. There was only one questionable penalty (called a facemask on a RB) but other than that it was pretty good. The real refs are slowly starting to lose what leverage they have.

Yeah, there were no real major mistakes by the refs in the Bears/Colts game that I recall. At least, nothing more severe than the regular refs typically made anyway.

One pretty bad no call in the tits/pats game, but this crew working the packers game is royally screwing up.

The refs in Packers vs 49ers made a perfect case for why we need the refs back. I don't care how bad reg refs are there better then this garbage.

yeah, there was 3 straight plays in the first half that I thought could have been called on the 49ers that weren't. The first Staley play he got a full step back in protection before the snap and I have no clue how you miss that. Next play he started back early again but no where near as bad. Next play 92 was in as a blocking fullback and flinched, but wasn't too bad. They later did get him on one.
Other than that sequence, it seemed equally bad both ways. There seemed to be a bunch more should-be pass interferences not called on the 49ers, but that easily could have been cause the 49ers didnt have many deeper plays where interference could have been called.
The Cobb punt return was terrible, blatant block in the back on the Pack that just wasnt called. Flag was thrown right at it too, so one of the refs must have seen it, but then they huddled up and called no foul.
Overall, it didn't have a huge impact on the game cause the 49ers dominated and easily should have won. Not like the regular refs are perfect, but it was very apparent these replacement guys for that game were just incredibly inconsistent in their calls and seemed subpar to me.

Unless his helmet was on fire, I don't see how you can defend that.

Officiating in the Pack game stunk both ways. Pack still lost in all phases to the Niners so it didn't matter in the end(just helped GB look somewhat competitive witht he final score being 30-22 instead of 30-14 lol)
get the real refs back ffs. This is stupid to watch these fools every week. Most popular sport in the US and they have these replacement officials. Come on already

Two million? Word is there is a $40-$70 million difference between the NFL and the real refs. The NFL also wants a "bench" of refs to pull from when any of the regular refs are struggling during the season. For obvious reasons, the real refs want nothing to do with that.

Yeah it's such a joke that they should be held accountable at their job.

Well Packers fans can't gripe too much they gave you a free return TD to keep you in the game that you had no business having. Then as soon as it got to within striking distance Rodgers throws a baffling INT that had no chance of being completed. There were some calls missed but the Green Bay defense is still the same one we saw last year, and SF was pretty much able to do anything they wanted to do on offense.
I'd be more upset about that then officiating.
