The only way I can see us pulling this off is to get into a shootout with them. Our passing game is really the only viable option...even pretending to run any more than maybe 15 times is a waste. Go vertical 45 times and hope Smith can't keep pace.

I didn't think they threw it Calvin enough in the opener. He had 6 for 111 but I still have that feeling he could have done more.

Yeah, I think the line will go down as they get closer to Sunday. I don't know though. If Smith can continue to throw to his WRs and Stafford isn't more careful with his throws the 49ers will blow them out.

Maybe but the way the 49ers play they don't usually blow teams out, at least they didn't last year. Whenever the 49ers got a big lead last season they basically stopped trying on offense. The 49ers could very well dominate the game but I could see the Lions bringing it within one score on a garbage time touchdown

Disappointing tackling especially on the last drive and Stafford was erratic again with decent protection. The game plan to run more obviously didn't work.

I thought Kevin Smith played well. He seemed to be consistently gaining 2-6 yards with almost no negative plays, and that just doesn't happen against the 49ers very often.

He falls down soooooo much. Seems like every time he plants his foot to make a cut, he just stumbles over. He's been good though.

He was such a stud in college, and he's your most talented back on paper. Would be a shame if he flaked out, but I don't think he will.

I was never high on the pick really. Watched him plenty in college playing in the Big Ten.

And he's not really a pass receiver, so that doesn't make him a 3-down back for this team. I doubt he gets 16-18 touches in any game this season.

Not really a reason to dislike him though. Not many backs in this league are 3 down backs and it's not like Kevin Smith is making a great name for himself. None of your backs have had that many touches this year anyways, so that's not a great gauging factor. What you gotta love is his ability to run hard and play physical while having game breaking potential. That's what I want to see. If he can do what he did in college, in the pros. If he can, I think you'll be happy. If not, eh... we don't want to think that. ;)

I don't think the Lions' offense will produce a top 20 fantasy running back, and let's face it, that's why you're invested here.

It isn't just the ball carrier. The Lions' offensive line has to be among the worst in the league at run blocking. And if it's a passing situation, Kevin Smith is the superior option.

I have him in the War League, and WMD PM'd me asking for him. But I have 3 other leagues where I don't have him. So I'm not stressin'. Just wondering what you all thought. I think there's certainly potential for him to do well, but I wanted to see if Lions fans shared that enthusiasm. Guess not all of them do. hah.

You may be in for a nice surprise Xio. But don't worry, I won't trade him to you since I know it will offend you.
